Team Summary:
The Friday practice session for the 2020 Tuscany Grand prix would commence
with a large number of drivers coming out using a mix of the hard and medium
tyre. Both Williams drivers would complete a single installation lap. With
ten minutes completed Bottas would set a 1m:22.124 on the hard tyre. the
only driver yet to come out was Stroll. Bottas would improve with a
1m:20.645 followed by Gasly and Albon. Raikkonen was now third followed by
Sainz, Norris. with a mix of hard and medium tyres in use. Gasly was now
quickest with a 1m:19.859 followed by Bottas, Raikkonen and Verstappen. The
track was getting very busy as more drivers started their timed runs. After
their first runs the Williams drivers were eighth and 14th. At the front of
the times it was now Verstappen followed by Gasly, Hamilton, Leclerc, Sainz,
George, Bottas, Kvyat, Raikkonen and Ricciardo tenth.
The Williams drivers were now be 10th and 11th having completed their soft
tyre runs. The track with empty with the first forty minutes completed. The
order was Verstappen, Hamilton, Leclerc, Bottas, Gasly, Ricciardo, Perez,
Sainz, Albon and George tenth. The first driver to return after the break
was Raikkonen on the soft tyre. He would go third with a 1m:19.219 followed
by Giovinazzi. Norris on the soft tyre and would go quickest with a
1m:18.991. More drivers were out on the soft tyre except for the Williams
drivers who were doing their usual split tyre evaluations in the second part
of the session. Hamilton was third followed now by Ricciardo. But Ocon would
go quickest with a 1m:18.805 but Hamilton would move ahead with a 1m:18.409.
Bottas was now on his soft tyre run and would go quickest with a 1m:17.879
followed now by Leclerc and Hamilton. Ocon was now fourth followed by
Norris, Verstappen, Albon, and Kvyat eighth. Verstappen was able to move up
to second while the Williams drivers were now 15th and 20th. Gasly would
improve to now be fifth seeing the Williams drivers now 16th and 20th with
twenty two minutes remaining. With the track now empty after a short break
Norris would return on the soft tyre. He would be joined by more drivers
with most of them using the soft tyre. Both Racing Points were on the hard
tyre. The order was Bottas, Verstappen, Leclerc, Hamilton, Gasly, Ocon,
Kvyat, Norris, Albon and Ricciardo tenth. The session would end with no
changes in the top ten. The Williams drivers would finish in 16th and 20th.
It was very much the usual Friday first session for the Williams team with
both drivers completing soft tyres runs followed split tyre evaluations on
longer runs.
George Russell:
George would start his Friday practice running on the medium. George would
also return for his first timed laps using the soft tyre. George would set a
1m:21.648 to be sixth dropping to seventh. George would complain that the
rear of his car was feeling quite light through certain corners. Despite
this he would improve with a 1m:20.696 currently eighth. George would set a
1m:20.344 to now be seventh. He had completed a nine lap run on the soft
tyre. It was an impressive run from George to set some nice times, yes they
were on the soft tyre, to be 10th with seventh placed Perez also on the soft
tyre was just 0.241 ahead of him. George would return this time on the
medium tyre. On this time he would improve with a 1m:20.139 to be 14th. A
1m:19.478 would see George now 13th but he would drop to 15th. George would
pit after an eight lap run. George would return with ten minutes remaining
again on the medium tyre. He would complete a nine lap run with the end of
the session.
Nichols Latifi:
Using the hard tyre Nicholas would be first out for the opening Friday
practice. With an hour and ten minutes remaining Nicholas would return
running on the soft tyre. He would set a 1m:23.087 to be seventh. Nicholas
would improve with a 1m:21.770 to currently be ninth. Nicholas would pit
after a four lap run currently tenth. In his pit Nicholas had dropped to
14th but he would return to set a 1m:21.290 to now be 12th. He would drop to
15th but he would set a 1m:20.379 to see him move forward. Nicholas would
return this time on the hard tyre. He would set a 1m:20.034 but was now
20th. He would pit after a ten lap hard tyre run. With just over ten minutes
remaining and Nicholas would return again on the hard tyre. Nicholas would
have a spin with the rear end going around and seeing his car into the
gravel but he was able to continue. With the end of the session Nicholas
would complete a eight lap run. |
