July 17 2021

The opening Friday practice session, the only session before qualifying under the sprint race format, would produce results that were somewhat uncertain for the Williams Racing Team. In what was an unusual result we would see Nicholas Latifi finish in 16th while team-mate George Russell was down in 20th and last position. In what was a session that would see three practice sessions condensed into one as the team prepared for Friday's qualifying. George would be complaining about high speed instability in the rear of his car which could have contributed to moments when he would leave the track.
