Team Summary:
The second Friday practice session fr the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix would
commence with the whole field coming out very quickly and just as quickly the
times would come with after a series of quickest laps with Perez fastest
with a 1m:25.278 followed by Alonso and for Williams Nicholas. Verstappen was fourth
followed by Norris, Sainz and Leclerc. But Leclerc would set a 1m:25.021 to
be quickest followed by Raikkonen and Bottas such was the pace of change in
the times. The top three were all on the
medium tyre. Perez was now into the 1m:24s with a 1m:24.985 now followed by
Hamilton and Bottas. Leclerc would improve again with a 1m:24.102 to be
quickest by 0.883s. The Williams cars were now 14th and 16th.
Norris was now up to second using the hard tyre but Hamilton would move
ahead to be second and Bottas now third. Norris was now fourth followed by
Perez, Verstappen, Gasly, Ricciardo, Sainz and Raikkonen tenth. Both
Williams cars would return for soft tyre runs currently 16th and 17th. After
their first run on the soft tyre neither driver would improve. Hamilton
would go quickest with a 1m:23.840 to be ahead of Leclerc and Bottas. Perez
was now fourth followed by Verstappen, Norris, Tsunoda, Sainz, Alonso and
Stroll. Both Williams drivers would pit after their soft tyre runs.
Alonso would improve to be sixth and Ocon now seventh followed by Norris and
Gasly. Leclerc had set a 1m:23.970 but would remain second. The Williams
drivers were now in 17th and 18th with nineteen minutes remaining. Drivers
would start their longer runs with the majority of drivers using the medium
tyre. The Williams team had split between the medium and the hard. Gasly
would spin at Turn six but was able to continue. As the session ended the
drivers would again complete practice starts on the grid. Hamilton would
remain fastest from Leclerc, Bottas, Perez, Verstappen, Norris, Alonso,
Ocon, Gasly and Giovinazzi tenth. For Williams they would remain well down
the order in 17th and 18th in what was a more difficult session for the
team.
George Russell:
George would start his session using the hard tyre changing from the medium.
George had set a slow 2m:05.528 to be slowest but he would improve with a
1m:25.680 to now be 11th. This would become 16th as he pitted after a six
lap run. With just over forty minutes remaining George would return for a
soft tyre run. He would set a 1m:25.358 not seeing any improvement being
16th. He would drop down to 17th to be right behind his team-mate. After a
three lap run he would pit. George would also return on used soft tyres now
in 18th. Again after a short run he would pit switching to the hard tyre. As
the session drew to a close George had completed ten laps on the hard tyre.
With the end of the session he would complete fourteen laps.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would switch to the medium tyre for his first run. He would set a
1m:25.596 to be third. He would drop to ninth then tenth. Nicholas would
have a pin at Turn nine being able to continue. He would pit after a four
lap run no doubt to have his car checked. He would drop to 14th and after a
short stop he would return this time on the soft tyre. With a 1m:25.589
Nicholas was only 17th. A 1m:25.307 would see Nicholas move ahead of his
team-mate to be 16th. After a three lap run he would pit. He would return on
a used set of soft tyres being currently 17th. Like his team-mate he would
pit to switch to the medium tyre. In the closing moments of the session
Nicholas would spin again but was able to continue. He would complete
thirteen laps with the end of the session.. |
