Team Summary:
With the start of the opening Friday practice session for the 2022 Hungarian
Grand Prix it would commence with a rush of drivers coming out with all
three tyre types been used. The last cars to come out would be the Mercedes
as times started to come in. Verstappen was quickest with a 1m:21.235
followed by Sainz both on the soft tyre. Ricciardo was third followed by
Ocon and Albon. On the soft Leclerc would move into fourth followed by Ocon,
Alex, Alonso, Magnussen, and Schumacher ninth. Sainz would set a 1m:20.696
to go quickest ahead of Verstappen but Leclerc was able to move ahead of
Sainz with a time of 1m:20.225. The Williams pair were currently sixth and
12th.
Verstappen would move into second followed by Sainz, Ricciardo, Ocon,
Hamilton, Russell, Alex, Alonso, and Tsunoda tenth. Leclerc continuing to
run on the soft tyre was now second but again Verstappen would move ahead.
With forty minutes remaining both Williams cars had pitted after long runs
on the medium and hard tyres. They would both return for a second run this
time of the soft tyre. Also using the soft tyre Russell would go second
ahead of Verstappen. Hamilton was now fifth as the Williams cars would now
be 11th and 14th after their soft tyre runs. Perez was now sixth followed by
Norris, Ricciardo, Tsunoda, and Gasly tenth. The Williams pair were now 12th
and 16th with just over twenty minutes remaining.
At the top of the times Leclerc was quickest with now a 1m:19.426 followed
by Russell and Verstappen. But Verstappen would return to the top of the
times with a 1m:18.880 followed by Sainz and Leclerc. But Leclerc would move
ahead of his team-mate. It would again change as Sainz was able to return to
the top of the times with a 1m:18.750. Norris was now fourth followed by
Russell, Perez, Hamilton, Ricciardo, Ocon and Alonso tenth. Drivers were now
out on longer runs as the session drew to a close including both Williams
cars running on the medium and hard tyre. The session would end with the top
ten remaining the same while for Williams the session was far from
encouraging finishing in 16th and 20th.
Alex Albon:
Alex would be first out for Williams in the session using the medium tyre.
Alex would set a 1m:24.171 to be briefly quickest but he would drop down to
seventh. But with a 1m:22.754 would see Alex return to sixth but he would
drop to seventh. But a further improvement of 1m:22.406 would see him again
sixth again dropping to seventh. This would become ninth as he completed
nine laps on the medium tyre. He would pit after a ten lap run. Alex would
also return for a soft tyre run. As he started his run Alex was now 11th but
with a 1m:20.834 he would improve to be 8th. As more soft tyre times were
set he would drop back to 11th. He would pit after a two lap run only to
return remaining on the soft tyre now 12th. Again he would pit briefly
returning on used soft tyres again pitting after a single lap. Alex would
drop to now be 15th. This would become 16th as he returned on used medium
tyres and with the end of the session he would complete nine laps on his
last run.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would be running on the hard tyre for his first run in the session.
He would set 1 m:27.144 to be tenth. This would become 14th but with a
1m:24.147 would see him now 12th. A further improvement with a 1m:23.842
would see Nicholas remain in 12th. he would drop down to 14th as he
continued to put laps in on the hard tyre. He would drop to 17th as he
pitted after a nine lap run on the hard tyre. With just over thirty minutes
remaining Nicholas would return using the soft tyre. Nicholas was currently
18th but with a 1m:22.398 he was now 12th. He would drop to 15th. Nicholas
would improve with a 1m:21.413 but would remain 16th. Now 17th he would pit
after an eight lap run on the soft tyre. He would return on used hard tyres
currently 20th. With the end of the session he would complete ten laps on
the hard tyre. |
