Team Summary:
With Logan Sargeant replacing Alex Albon for the opening Friday practice
session of the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix the session would get underway and as
the times started to be set we would have Ricciardo quickest with a
1m:25.867 followed by Norris and Nyck de Vries, who had replaced Russell.
But quickly Verstappen would go quickest with a 1m:22.779 followed by
Ricciardo and Perez while we would have a Williams in eighth and 17th. This would
become 10th and 16th. Verstappen had improved with a 1m:22.291 with Perez
still second followed by Gasly, Bottas, Sainz, Ricciardo, Alonso, Norris,
Hamilton, and Zhou tenth. Sainz would improve to be third followed by
Bottas, Gasly, Alonso, Ricciardo, Vettel, Norris and Hamilton tenth.
Using the soft tyre Leclerc would go quickest with a 1m:21.546 followed by
Verstappen and Perez. The Williams drivers were currently in 16th and 19th
with just over thirty minutes remaining in the session. Also on the soft
tyre Schumacher was now second as more drivers came out for soft tyre runs.
Alonso would go second from Norris, Perez and Bottas. Sainz was now quickest
with a 1m:20.707 followed by Leclerc and Alonso. But Perez would improve to
be third followed by Verstappen, Alonso, Bottas, Norris, Gasly, Vettel and
Zhou tenth. The Williams pair were 13th and 19th as the session was Red
Flagged as a result of a car stopped in the pit lane exit.
With the restart Vettel was first out joined by both Williams. Sainz was now
fifth followed by Alonso, Bottas, Norris, Gasly, and Vettel tenth. The
Williams pair were 15th and 17th with only one car having completed a soft
tyre run. The session would be Red Flagged again due to a stopped car and
with three minutes remaining it was unlikely to see the session restart. The
session would end with Sainz remaining quickest followed by Leclerc, Perez,
Verstappen, Hamilton, Alonso, Bottas, Norris, Gasly, and Vettel tenth. In an
uneventful session the Williams drivers would finish 15th and 17th.
Nicholas
Latifi:
Nicolas would be first out for the team in the session using the hard tyre.
He would set a 1m:27.235 to be 13th. He would improve with a 1m:24.628 to be
eighth. This would become 11th as the session progressed. He would pit after
a six lap run while in the pits he would drop to be 15th. He would return on
the soft tyre and would set a 1m:22.912 to be 11th. He would drop to 13th
with twenty five minutes remaining. He would pit after a five lap run. With
the restart Nicholas would return on used soft tyres as he dropped to 15th.
He would complete seven laps prior to pitting with a Red Flag and would not
return as the session ended.
Logan
Sargeant:
Logan would get another opportunity by the team as he prepares for his
joining the team in the 2023 season. He would be the last driver to come out
in the session and would set a 1m:29.836 to be 17th. He would improve with a
1m:26.899 to be 16th. A further improvement with a 1m:26.183 saw him remain
16th. He would pit after a five lap run dropping to be 19th. Logan would
return on used hard tyres. He would improve with a 1m:26.058 but remained
19th. A further improvement with a 1m:25.504 remaining 19th pitting after a
seven lap run. With fifteen minutes remaining his would return on again used
hard tyres and would improve with a 1m:24.246 to be 16th. This would become
17th as he continued his long tyre run. He would pit with a Red Flag and
would not return as the session ended. |
