Team Summary:
With the Sprint format being used this weekend for the Brazilian Grand Prix
Friday practice would take on more importance as qualifying would be later
on Friday. The practice session would commence with a few of the drivers
coming out including the first of the Williams. The most common tyre was the
hard with a few medium tyres as Bottas sets a 1m:16.148 to be quickest only
to see Ocon move ahead with a 1m:15.495. Hamilton was now fastest with a
1m:15.018 but Perez would move ahead with 1m:14.616. But it would quickly
changed as we had Verstappen now fastest with a 1m:14.104 followed by
Bottas, Perez, Ocon, Zhou, and Alonso sixth.
Bottas would go quickest with a 1m:13.807 to be ahead of Verstappen. The two
Williams were 12th and 18th with ten minutes of the session completed. We
would see Verstappen return to the top of the times with a 1m:13.575
followed by Bottas, Perez, Sainz, Leclerc, Russell, Ocon, Zhou, Alonso, and
Gasly tenth. Hamilton would improve to be fourth while for Williams their
cars were currently 15th and 20th. The track would empty leaving just a
single Williams running. The Williams would pit as we started to see the
soft tyre being used. On the soft tyre Perez would go quickest with a time
of 1m:11.853 while Schumacher on the medium would go second. Also on the
medium team-mate Magnussen would move ahead and into second.
Both Williams cars were now out on the soft tyre. On the medium Alonso was
now third while the Williams drivers were now sixth and 12th. At the front
Verstappen was now fastest with a 1m:11.861 only to see Perez move ahead
with a 1m:11.853. Leclerc was now third ahead of Bottas, Alonso, Alex,
Gasly, Magnussen, Schumacher, and Zhou tenth. As the times improved Sainz
and Leclerc on the medium tyres were third and fourth. The Williams pair
were currently seventh and 15th. This would become ninth and 16th as we saw
Russell move into fourth using the soft tyre. More drivers would start to
use the soft tyre with Schumacher now fifth on the soft tyre. Both Williams
were out on new soft tyres as we saw Russell now third.
But it would change as Hamilton was now third followed by Russell and Sainz.
Sainz would improve to be third ahead of Hamilton. The Williams pair were
now 12th and 17th as Leclerc went second fastest to be ahead of Verstappen.
Both drivers would continue running on the soft tyre as the session drew to
a close. With the end of the session Perez would remain quickest followed by
Leclerc, Verstappen, Sainz, Hamilton, Russell, Vettel, Schumacher, Bottas
and Gasly tenth. The drivers would be able to complete practice starts on
the grid as we saw the Williams drivers would finish the session in 12th and
17th in what was a positive session. Next would be Friday qualifying as the
clouds started to roll in over the track.
Alex Albon:
After a delay Alex would take to the track using the medium tyre. He would
set a 1m:16.151 to be 18th. But with a 1m:15.091 he would move up to tenth.
He would drop to be 16th having pitted after a ten lap run. his stop would
be brief returning for a single lap prior to pitting again. With thirty
minutes remaining Alex would return on the soft tyre and would set a
1m:12.968 to be fifth. This would become seventh as he continued running on
the soft tyre pitting after an eight lap run. He would return on a new set
of soft tyres and with a 1m:12.633 would be ninth. He would drop to tenth
and with the end of the session would finish in 12th. He would complete nine
laps on the soft tyre.
Nicholas Latifi:
Nicholas would be out first for Williams using the medium tyre. Nicholas
would set a 1m:17.495 to be tenth and slowest. He would improve with a
1m:16.077 to currently be 11th. This would become 14th as more times were
set. He would pit after a five lap run. He would drop to be 17th. His stop
would be brief returning on used medium tyres. He would drop to 20th as he
continued his run on the medium tyre. He would again pit briefly returning
on used medium tyres. After a single lap he would again pit. He would return
for a soft tyre run and with a 1m:13.981 was 12th dropping to 15th as he
continued to lap on the soft tyre. Outside the top ten Nicholas was the only
driver to have used the soft tyre. He would pit after an eight lap run
currently 16th with twelve minutes remaining. He would return on a set of
new sot tyres and with a 1m:13.019 was 14th. He would finish in 17th with
the end of the session having completed eight laps on the soft tyre. |
