Saudi Arabian GP: Williams Racing Grand Prix Preview

April 17 2025

Coming off the disappointment of Bahrain the Atlassian Williams Racing Team moves to Jeddah for the 2025 Saudi Arabian GP. For both Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon they are confident that they can take what was learnt in Bahrain and apply that to the Jeddah street circuit. The race marks the end of a triple header for the F1 teams so Williams is keen to see a return to the early success that they had achieved.

Carlo Sainz:
Whilst it’s never a good feeling coming off a DNF, we showed good pace during the entire weekend in Bahrain, so we’ll look to carry this into Saudi. It’s a fast track that requires a consistent build up through the practice sessions, requiring complete confidence in the car when it comes to Qualifying. I haven’t driven this track properly for two years now after missing it last year, so I’m looking forward to this fun circuit and to see what learnings from the past two weeks we can take to maximise the weekend.

Alex Albon:
Although Bahrain was an unfortunate weekend for the team, we came away having learned a lot and had really strong race pace. We’ll be looking to apply those learnings as we head to Saudi Arabia for the final race of the triple-header. Jeddah is one of the fastest street circuits on the calendar, so there’s little room for error. This year, the gaps are so tight that Qualifying and the race must be as close to perfect as possible to get points, so we need to give it everything we have in order to fight it out in the midfield.
