The start of the 2008 season is drawing closer. One new addition to the calendar this year is the European Grand Prix to be held on a new street circuit in Valencia. Take a trip around a virtual lap. Thanks to "Racingforever" for uploading it, and www.sidepodcast.com for highlighting it!

Awesome! Shame it was a virtual tour with a rusty Arrows
Great circuit, that back straight looks phenomenal. The bridge looks like it could be a huge spectacle, and there looks to be actual overtaking places?

..or Netherlands A1gp.
Why would anyone go to all that trouble of authenticity with the circuit then put a flipping orange car there?
I feel some simulation rage coming on...

You've heard the observation about Spa and why so many people like it?
When your doing laps there its like a journey,..like your traveling to a destination, you feel like your actually going somewhere.
Valencia is a series of right to left chicanes, the next the same as the last, taken pretty much the same way, same gearing. I think there was one double right combination!

Agree with Trollie. Every flipping corner is about 90 degrees, left right or right left. boring track, nice scenery i think.

With the problems of an environmental groups protest hanging over Valencia, [formula-1.updatesport.com]
is a simulated race going to be all there is?

looks like not much overtaking opertunities, a hard drivers circuit, but i would of liked a second main straight, 6/10 hard to tell really

Meh. It's nice to see a new track on the calendar. Should be interesting the first race at least.

Surprised so many think there so few overtaking opportunities. There are loads of high to low speed transitions and areas where skill in slow sections can get you close to the car in front prior to an overtaking section.
I dont think its just a load of 90 degree turn. There are loads of relatively fast turns, ones that tighten on entry etc. Plenty of variation. l
Not much room for error and somewhat less forgiving than Monaco due to the higher speeds. Entry to the bridge looks particularly scary if you tangle there.
Looks fab!

Pause the video about 37 / 38 seconds in ...
The start of the white bridge would be a disaster if a car clipped it!
