Cool Riders

Not content with having the flashiest motorhome in the paddock and keeping the neighbours awake all night with non-stop partying, Red Bull decided to also lead the way in paddock transport.

Not so long ago, Formula one drivers had to be content to use their legs if they wanted to get from one end of the paddock to the other, or do a quick reconnaisance lap of the track on a Thursday evening.

More recently there has been a trend to take driver transport to the races and it is now common to see the likes of Schumacher et al hurtling along at dizzy speeds of up to 30mph on girly go-peds and mo-peds

This approach does not suit the newest team in the paddock though.

The likes of 'Tonio & Christian are way too cool to want to be seen pottering about on one of those. The Red Bull solution at Imola was much more their style:

Strangely enough, whilst the "Energy Station" motorhome cost around £5 million, this latest team transport is actually likely to be a cheaper option for the team - at least in the case of 'Tonio & Christian. It appears that virtually all weekend they only used the back tyres of their bikes, prefering to keep the front wheel well away from the dirty tarmac.
