Sharp Blow But First Signing Is Imminent

WOLVES appear to have missed out on the signing of Scunthorpe United striker Billy Sharp after the striker was given permission to speak with Norwich City. Wolves have tonight however announced they are close to announcing the first of the summer signings.

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy looks like he will be forced to settle with just Freddy Eastwood after Scunthorpe United this afternoon granted Billy Sharp permission to speak with Championship rivals Norwich City.

Wolves have been massively linked with Freddy Eastwood and Billy Sharp for several weeks however it is so far unknown whether McCarthy intended to spend Morgan's millions on both Sharp and Eastwood or just one of the two.

BBC Radio Humberside are tonight reporting that talks between Norwich City and Billy Sharp are underway however Wolverhampton Wanderers Chief Executive Jez Moxey has tonight confirmed Wolves are close to announcing their first summer signing.

"We know that our fans are anxious for the signings to start and we are getting close to making our first one." Jex Moxey told the clubs official website today.

The first signing is widely expected to be Southend man Freddy Eastwood. The 23 year old yesterday admitted that he would relish the chance of moving to Molineux and it appears Moxey is putting the final pieces in place for the arrival of the striker.

Burnley Confirm Wolves Approach

Burnley have today confirmed Wolves approach for Northern Ireland International Kyle Lafferty. The 19 year old was linked with a move to Wolves over the weekend but Burnley boss Steve Cotterill today told the Burnley Express "Mick McCarthy called me and he enquired about Kyle, although there were no bids made. It didn't take me long to say we didn't want Kyle to go anywhere.bTheir chief executive Jez Moxey then spoke to our chairman and that was rebuffed. We wouldn't want to sell Kyle."

Marcus Williams Bid Rejected

Scunthorpe United have tonight reportedly confirmed to BBC Radio Humberside that a bid from an unknown side for defender Marcus Williams had been rejected. The 21 year old had been linked with a move to Wolves over the weekend.
