Match Thread: Rotherham V Wolves

By Badge32
August 16 2014

Wolves take on Rotherham today at the New York Stadium. Last season saw 16 goals hit the back of the net in the two meetings with Dicko scoring five of them. He scored twice for Rotherham in the 3-3 draw at the same venue we play today before hitting a hat-trick for Wolves in the 6-4 victory at Molineux.

Ian.pershoreWolf will again be available to give us commentry and views as the match unfolds and he would be glad to see as many fans join him for what we hope will be a great 90 minutes of football.

Good noisy away following for us again. Rotherham have had the best of the opening 5 mins. Game not settled down yet.

Best of it to Rotherham, Wolves muster just the one shot easily saved. Our defence seems a bit wobbly.

2 glorious chances to Sako. How didn't he score ? Unbelieveable.

Wolves getting more possession now and making some good runs. Rotherham still look dangerous.
Rotherham just hit the crossbar.

Half Time 0-0
We looked a bit nervy at the back early on but settled down well, Batth being busy but doing a top job.
We really should be 3 up. A couple of open goals blown. Woeful finishing from Dicko and Sako.

Wolves a bit slow coming out for the 2nd half but here we go. Wolves kicking off playing towards our fans. 4.06pm 0-0. No subs at half time from either side.

Good run from Edwards, nobody to pass to.Maybe should have got the shot on target.
Scrappy start to the 2nd half overall.
Van la Parras corners haven't promised much.

Rotherham make a change in midfield.

2nd half 10 mins gone 0-0.

Scrappy. Wolves still getting good possession but not threatening.

More good defending from Batth. Evans sitting too deep, and has done all match.

2nd half 20 mins gone 0-0
Sako curler from free kick goes out for a corner. Sako hasn't had a good game today.Wolves trying to play too much pretty football instead of getting on with the job. Rotherham not really threatening our goal but we are losing balls in bad places giving them a sniff.

Extremely poor from Wolves, in particular midfield where it is painfully clear that Evans doesn't offer anything leaving McDonald to do all the work. Edwards offering little.

Another Sako curler from a free kick sails over the bar.

Doherty starting to make some good forward runs. 3rd yellow to Rotherham.
Sako free kick hits the wall.
1-0 to Rotherham.

Only a matter of time before they scored. Wolves have been woeful today.

Going to be an long season without any investment in 2-3 players to replace the likes of Evans, Stearman/Batth and Edwards.

Corner to wolves 40 seconds to go, saved by their hopeless keeper who has dropped and flapped at everything today.

I think that's old news angry, I've heard in the last hour we've pulled out as we weren't willing to match his £50 a week wage demands.

Too early IMO to start the doom mongering...just yet...

Disappointing week, out of the League cup, lost in the league, and no ambition in the transfer market.
Its gonna be a long long season.

Rotherham 1 Wolves 0 FT

Deserved all we got there. Game should have been won by half time. Dreadful stuff from Sako and even worse from dopey Dicko.
Prob give Batth man of the match.

I'd hardly say Dicko is dopey, without his goals we would still be bu.ggering around in league 1... the prob isn't dicko, its the fact he doesn't have anyone adequate to partner him.

The chance he missed was hardly an open goal, he had a heavy first touch granted but was always tricky ,it was his industy and hard work that led to the chance with no one creating it for him and the second was a sublime first touch and an end shot hit with the outside of his foot fizzing inches past the post which he should have done better with but what about the players that create fck all like Clarke, macilindon. I think Dicko deserves more than being labelled "dopey dicko" with a goal scoring record for wolves any player would be proud of.

We need to add quality around players like dicko not replace them, its the sh.it on the bench that needs to be replaced

Exactly angry. There's a decent core of players there in Ikeme, Batth, McDonald, Sako, maybe van La Parra and Dicko. Fill the other spots with good quality additions and you've still got a decent bench with the players they're replacing. You've also got a team that I wouldn't argue could push the top 6. Right now, the strength in depth is what's letting this side down.

I saw somewhere on here the local brothel was mentioned, well yesterday Dicko wouldn't have scored there either, even with 500 quid hanging out of his back pocket. However, I can't remember him having too many days like that and given his strike rate for us so far, I think he should be cut a bit of slack. As long as days like yesterday don't become a habit of course.
