Fulham V Wolves Head To Head

Up next for Wolves is a visit to Craven Cottage, The home of Fulham football club and for a short time a statue of Michael Jackson. Wolves have not gone to Craven Cottage since losing 5-0 during a Premier League clash in March 2012.

This will be the 42nd time Wolves have gone to face Fulham at Craven Cottage and will have fans travelling along the River Thames toget to the ground.

Wolves have not got a bad record there however they have failed to win any of the last six visits with the last one coming in 1999. Neil Emblem scored the only goal of the game on 19th october 1999 in front of 13,160 fans.

The first meeting was way back on April 1st 1908, When Fulham won by two goals to one. Wolves had to wait three years to the day to get their first win thanks to a 1-0 score line on April 1st 2011. If Wolves fans think they had a bad time in 2012 then spare a thought for those that went to see their side play in 1928. A crowd of over 12,000 turned up for the second division game on the 4th of February and saw the home side win 7-0.

Wolves biggest win came on the 8th of December 1962 as they won a division one game by 5-0.

I managed to find a couple of videos you may enjoy. The first was from 1967 when Wolves visited Craven Cottage on the opening day of the season. Wolves had just been promoted back to the top flight after spending two seasons in the second division.

The second is extended highlights from a game that was played on New Years day of 1983. It was a second division top of the table clash that Wolves went on to win and eventually get promoted as runners up.

Good effort Badge and some interesting material posted especially the two video clips. Its a shame more people don't contribute to this site, we get countless contributions on the lame word association threads but they go missing on football related topics and it's left to a very small number of posters keeping the site alive again.

We all post in the pred league but it doesn't get updated for weeks on end ( which I know isn't your remit) and don't have any football related conversation on the site other than threads in caps lock screaming for Jacketts head or Morgan. For eg we have had a full fixture list of championship games tonight and not a single post.

Thank you, Badge.

I contribute when I have something to say. I read most of what looks interesting and try to skip the vitriol.

As to the "lame word association threads" - you'll find, angry, that was in the off season, when there wasn't anything to comment on.

We have talked about ways to try and get new and old users back but it seems a slow process. I will be the first to admit I am not a man who is blessed with the ability of word like Tom and the others or even like Angry. But I try and do some simple things like this and the club shirts and hope that some old users or new ones pop on and see something they like and will pop on more often.

There was a world cup which I believe a few people including me were betting on but the betting thread has been removed as well.

I remember seeing Wolves beat Fulham 9-0 in probably the late 50's although this was an evening game at Molineux. Something like that would be nice tonight.

I had forgotten how bad the playing surfaces used to be.
Nice first goal

You are correct, it was Wednesday September 16th 1959. Just a week after losing 3-1 to them at craven Cottage.

I just about remember it - I also remember being annoyed at the very first match when the referee was frightened to reprimand Brazil - still, that leniency didn't do them any good in the end. I've been more occupied with the Commonwealth Games which I thoroughly enjoyed - even the aggro from the Scots!

I remember the Brazil match wolverine.. unlucky for Croatia and recall laying Brazil for the tournament which turned out to be a prudent decision. Did you stay in Glasgow and if so where abouts as I went up there fairly recently myself

Keep up the good work Badge, it is appreciated even though there is no feedback sometimes. Was at the New year 83 game. My mate had the hangover from hell and just about recovered before we got there. A great game for us.

I stayed at a hotel in Hillhead - not that I saw much of it because I was out at events all the time. Must go back some time and see a bit more of the city.
