Wolves V Newport County Head To Head

Well I was planning on doing just a cup head to head for this one but this will be the first time we have played Newport county in a cup game. In fact we have only faced a Newport County side four times and this will be the first since they reformed in 1989.

This will be the first competitive meeting between these sides since April 1988.

Neither side has failed to score in the four previous clashes between the two, with each side winning two apiece. They beat us 2-1 at Molineux and 3-1 at Somerton Park during 1985/86 however during 1987/88 we beat them 2-1 at Molineux and 3-1 at Somerton Park.

Wolves have been knocked out of the League Cup at the first round stage by a League Two side in the last two seasons (Morecambe in 2013-14, Northampton in 2014-15).

Newport have conceded in every one of their last nine League Cup games, at an average of 2.8 goals per game.
