Well 2016 was not a good year for Wolves fans other than Seeing Morgan and Moxey leave the club. A 2-1 defeat at home to QPR saw us end the year on a poor note and now we look to see if 2017 will be a little kinder.

The transfer window is now open but we have yet to do any bussiness despite rumours that we have signed Luke Chambers. Today we face a trip to Sheff Wed who sit 7th place and looking good while we lanquish down in 16th, 13 points behind our hosts.

MATCH FACTS

The Owls' victory in this fixture last season was their first at Hillsborough against Wolves since 1964 - the same year they last recorded back-to-back home wins over them.

Wolves have lost once to Wednesday in the Championship this season (0-2 in November) - they haven't lost twice to them in the league in a single season since 1932-33.

Sheffield Wednesday have only failed to score in one of their 11 home Championship games this season, losing 2-0 to Leeds in August.

Wolves - winners in their last away league game at Nottingham Forest - haven't won back to back away Championship games since New Year's Day 2016.

A win for the Owls would mean their best run of form at Hillsborough since January 2016 (a run of four successive wins).

These two sides have met on Jan 2nd once before. Back in 1937 with Wolves claiming a 3-1 away victory. Galley (2) and Clayton scored for Wolves.

I won't be joining in today as I will be at work. I will however keep tabs on the score via my phone so lets hope we start the new year off with three points.

Afternoon all
Only just logged on and heard James Henry scoring, which turned out to be a replay of the Bolton away game last season because the link from Sheffield had broken down. Commentary now being done via mobile phone!!

Well matched at the moment. Fletcher & Conor McManaman have just mounted an attack which broke down, then Conor Ronan burst forward to the edge of pen area & won a throw in

Opinion is that we should have had a penalty when defender barged into Mason making no attempt to win the ball

Conor Ronan getting good reviews for his play so far, confidently taking on defenders. I'm hoping for a goal for Dadi or Mason today seeing as Dicko hasn't been able to manage one yet

Thanks Ian, I was beginning to think I was on my own here & planning to pack in at half time!!!

Still disputing the ref's refusal to give a penalty, analysts have seen it back & say it was definitely a foul, and if he didn't give a pen he should have booked Doherty

Weds player Hutcheson takes a Ronan free kick straight in the face and needs check up by the medics. Ronan appears to be a very confident and capable young man who the commentators (Jerry Gill under 18's coach is there) foresee having a very promising career

Half time 0 - 0. A positive first half for Wolves. Ikeme has had to make a couple of good saves, but we have also had good shouts for two penalties, and Mason really should have scored

All the commentary teams (Wed & Wolves) believe we should have been awarded what was considered to be a 'stonewall penalty. Having said that Joe Mason skied a ball from 2 yards out, so we need to be more lethal in front of goal.

No changes for Wolves. Ross Wallace on for Weds in place of Kieran Lee

Don't worry about it Ian it happens to me too, all of us in fact!

Hutcheson still looking like he is suffering after being hit if the face in first half, but they replace Callum McManamum with Joao!!

Think that's what we need Chicago. We're playing well by the sound of it, quite tight in defence and creating chances up front, just need a bit of luck to put it away.

That's it folks 0 - 0. The feeling is that we should have won it and definitely should have had a penalty. Difficult to make a 0 - 0 draw sound interesting but it actually has been a quite exciting match to listen to.

Encouraging point in our battle against relegation with us 5 points clear of the trapdoor going into the new year .. only 7 teams have scored fewer goals than Sheff Wed at home BTw so cant understand the euphoria on other forums at a 0-0 draw but more than many expected.
