On paper Wolves face an enormous opportunity to wake the rest of the football world up and note their presence today as they entertain Brighton and Hove Albion at Molineux
Nuno Espirito Santo faces the chance of taking his team into the top four of the Premier League for the first time ever today, with a win against Brighton who are struggling without a win this year. Wolves also have a chance of staying in that position if Manchester United are beaten by their rivals City tomorrow, so there is much to play for today, even though Nuno adopts the same mantra that we take thingsa one game at a time! We as fans have to hope that our team do not once again struggle to beat a team who are in the bottom six.
Jonny Castro Otto will be missing from the opening line-up again today and will presumably be replaced by Ruben Vinagre again. It is to be hoped that Adama Traore has recovered from the shoulder injury aggravated by a challenge at Spurs last week during their fine victory there. No other concerns have been evident during the week.
Our referee today will be the very experienced Andre Marriner
This board will hopefully carry updates during the match, and members are encouiraged to post their own observations for the benefit of those unable to follow it.

Good play down the left wing by Vinagre for a corner but easily cleared. All play now occurring in the midfield area

Very good play down both wings by Albion, superb cross just couldn't be met by Maupassant. Now play is up the other end with Vinagre

Montoya fouled Vinagre to stop his run and gets the first yellow card of the game. Doc defends well in the corner to avoid a corner. Coady nearly gets a kick to the head clearing the ball but is OK

Half time whistle goes after a fairly entertaining first half. Albion are certainly no pushover and have mounted their fair share of attacks, needing us to defend well. We have put together some promising attacks but had very few efforts on target, most of them going over the bar.

I wouldn't agree that it's dire as there have been good chances opfor both sides, but no goals which is what brightens games up. I'm hopeful that as of late Nuno will tell them how to put them to the sword in the second half.

We strangely seem to have handed the initiative to Brighton who were gaining in confidence as the first half progressed.
Need to find a way to at least test their goalie so perhaps a change of shape or substitution required.

Brighton have started the second half brightly - Trossard's ball across our area just to far ahead of Maupay. Free kick to Wolves midway up their half in the wing just eludes Saiss's head and taken by Ryan. However we are still making some sloppy passes

Burn & Dunk both get yellow cards for successive fouls. Free kick o edge of their area cleared from the goal line. I think we probably need a change & to see Adama. Important block by Boly

Neves' shot on target this time but blocked in the area. Albion break but shoot wide. Exciting break by Jota & Raul which ends with a poor shot from Joao. Adama being prepared!!

Podence being prepared to enter the fray. Adama loses the ball when a break is on. Brighton are playing well and always look dangerous on the break, but fortunately their shooting is oretty poor. DP replaces Jota

I think Vinagre is a very promising & talented young player but I wish he wouldn't think he always has to take someone on before he can pass the ball!!

Corner to Wolves earned by Vinagre- their first of this half I believe, cleared easily. Stephens replaces Mooy for Albion who has been a thorn in our side again!

Three added minutes played and all over. Brighton played well and dealt with our threat up front well. We were well organised as always but often our passing left us wanting. Fortunately none of the Brighton forwards had their shooting boots with them!! Another clean sheet for Rui which is his 4th consecutive one in the League, but another disappointing result against a team struggling to stay in the League.

A disappointing result and a disappointing performance.
Just seemed that too many of our players were under par,sloppy passing, poor first control and the usual spark we have come to expect from the likes of Jota, Traore etc just wasn’t there.
Feel that it was two points lost rather than one point gained.

A good day but a disappointing end result. A decent pint in the Lych Gate then onto the Royal London before pushing onto Molineux.
We started so positively but Brighton worked their way into the match as time wore on. This and a willingness to lose the ball made for a below par performance overall.
The match certainly wasn’t dire but conversely wasn’t a classic, sadly we were pretty toothless in front of goal, although the introduction of Traore did liven things up a little bit. Brighton tried to play football, worked hard and kept the ball very well at time, but didn’t really look like scoring despite giving a couple of nervy moments. They certainly weren’t like last year, another 0-0 which was 100% dire with 11 blue and white double deckers.
What is it about Brighton, we just can’t seem to beat them. My mate was happy, I was just totally frustrated. A good atmosphere today by the way, despite the scoreline.
It’s closing up at the top end of the table isn’t it?

We were bloody terrible for 95% of the game yesterday, lethargic performance and the most woeful passing I've seen for a long time.
Ruben Vinagre started fairly well but then seemed to lose all confidence and started passing backwards, despite having acres of space to attack into. He's becoming frustrating to watch, and many around me were saying exactly what I was thinking at the time - "God, I hope Jonny is back soon".
Only Diogo and Saiss did themselves any justice, the rest, including an uncharacteristically poor Moutinho, were dogsh*t. Need to perform better far more consistently to have any chance of staying in the top 6 at the end of the seasonm

An off day for sure.
Agree about Vinagre. He was the source of many of my frustrations, always seemed to look to play the ball back when he had acres to run into or attack their right back .... especially in the second half. Was he asked to do that? He cut back so often, I did wonder if he was under instruction, he doesn't normally play like that. Who knows, but he's very much still learning and I don't want to be too critical, however Jonny is our man in that position - when available.

I highly doubt Nuno would have told him to do that. It was comical at times, on one particular occasion in the second half there must have been 60 yards of space on that left wing for him to run into, only for him to cut back before getting to the half way line and pass back to Saiss. I admit to getting angry at that point and having a go, something I regret now, but it was incredibly frustrating when we desperately needed to get forward.
He's a talented player when his confidence is there, but much like Gibbs-White he hasn't done often enough when given the chance. Both badly need a loan move, preferably playing every game for a Championship side. It's already benefitting Dion Sanderson, who has made an excellent start at Cardiff according to their fans.

I agree entirely regarding MGW and that Vinagre had a poor match yesterday. Jonny should still be first choice when fit but Vinagre is normally fairly sound, especially going forward, and that was certainly the worst game I've seen him have so I'm not going to be too critical and as he is usually much better than that I wouldn't want him loaned out.

I made the comment during the game that I am often frustrated by Vinagre too. I think he is a very talented and promising young player, but I hope he learns soon that he doesn't always need to beat a player before he can pass the ball!
