If we are to receive 16M for Doc then I think it will be good business. The club looks for “young and hungry “ so 16M should go a significant way to buying in someone as a replacement who can give us several years of service.
Will be sorry to see Doc leave but he is now entering the twilight years of his career and there must be a good youngster out there somewhere. I would imagine that the club have already identified various targets.

Personally I think young Oscar Buur probably has potential to fill Doc's boots with the good coaching he's likely to continue receiving from Nuno and his team.

Weren’t we after Maitland-Niles? Maybe Doc has got a message. In this day and age, a player who lasts 10 years in a club deserves to be saluted, especially with all our ups and downs during that time. Personally I don’t think he’s in the twilight, and at 28 (29 next year) I think he’s got plenty in him left, several years in fact, though appreciate money talks. But ..... he hasn’t gone yet!!

I guess it was always going to be on the cards that one of these teams would try and lure our stars away but I don't think many f us thought it would be Doc that they wanted. I agree he has been a magnificent servant since making his debut at Anfield when MM sent him on, but I don't think he would be up for another 50 game season next season with Nuno!!

In the pre-amble I overlooked the fact that Leeds United have already signed Helder Costa from us for £16m and we have signed some little known keeper from Villa on a free!!

As far as I know we are still looking at Maitland-Niles but our initial bid of £15m has been rejected and there are also claims he doesn't want to come to us!!

For me this could be one of the more interesting transfer windows. If we used, what, 21 players actually on the pitch last season? And one of them was Jordao who only made his League debut in the last 10 mins of the final match. Cutrone and Vallejo went in January, Doherty's move looks imminent, MGW is at Swansea for the season and Jonny is out for most, if not all of it. That cuts it down to 15 or 16 and two of them are goalkeepers.
I don't know what's happening with Maitland-Niles but we must be bringing 3 or 4 in surely and I saw a few days ago that Tim Spiers reckons we are still interested in Ruben Dias.

The season before the one just gone Docherty was arguably our player of the season so why would we want to sell him? I wouldnt describe a 28 year old as "entering the twilight years" of his career Lupine and as for young and hungry, we moved on from that nonsense years ago when Morgan left to excuse cheap and cheerful. We want talent , age is irrelevant

Just seen a report that we have put in a bid for Mexican Jesus Corona of Porto. I've only seen him play once, in the Portuguese Cup final against Benfica, but he looked good. If that's anything to go by I hope this is true.

I was in a pub last night that had a sign on the wall saying "Anyone who asks for a Corona but hold the virus" will be barred!!

Understand your point of view Angry but the club philosophy does seem to be to purchase younger players and the natural evolvement of the squad does require a level of turnover and the older players will be sold while they have a “value”.

I think 16 million for Docherty is a terrible deal.. a player in his prime years part of one of the best defences in England (4th lowest goals against) for 16 million? The area we need to replace/upgrade is upfront and in midfield linking the midfield to the strikers rather than selling one of our best players for 16 million which wouldnt be enough to buy a top level championship player let alone premier league one. I'd start by transfer listing Jota , get Moutinho off the wage bill and bring in a couple of pacey attacking midfielders and at least one striker. I'd be happy to sell Neves over Docherty who woul d be worth far more but why do we need to sell anyone with the 4th lowest wage bill and smallest squad in the league?

Docs move to Spurs now confirmed.

We reportedly sold him for a fee of around 15 million ( maximum) with 10% to Bohemians leaving us with 13.5 million. In todays market he is worth at least double that- one of the best right backs in the league sold for a pittance in his prime years... it's a shocker for wolves whichever way you look at it.

I have to say I'm disappointed with the Transfer Window for us so far. We have let Norris, Costa and Doc go and no sign of us bringing anyone in before our game a week on Monday. I think Oscar Buur probably has the potential to step into Doc's shoes, but will need time to settle in as a regular. I have to wonder whether they are actually planning to promote from the Under 23's as well as looking for proven players.

I try no to worry or get sucked into many of the weird goings on associated with transfers or the window BUT we have 9 days to go to our kick off. Having read the various fan comments about Doc leaving and watching him walk away down to Spurs, other than wishing Doc all the very best for his service, I am significantly ‘glass very much more than half empty’ on the matter.

There have been arguments that Fosun and Nuno know what they’re doing, we’ve been here before (Cav, Douglas, Costa etc etc) but we start this season just weeks after the end of last season when the vast majority of us had identified we need more recruits not less ..... not forgetting Jonny .... we’re sorry he won’t be coming home (Fine Young Cannibals reference 😁, apologies) for quite a while yet.

As an aside, linked with investment and Fosun, I’ve previously mentioned about the current rather negative UK / China political climate / narrative ..... I now wonder what Jeff and the rest make of the latest news with the collapse of the premier league Chinese TV contract .... hardly good news to keep developing our ‘brand’ (I abide that phrase with a passion).

Only two signings so far and both out on loan. Given that we have been investing in youngsters for the past 3 years or so I am guessing that some of them will be asked to step up and prove their worth or what is the point!!
Also expecting one or two quality signings to give us the numbers to compete across the season and avoid tripping up due to injury etc.

Reports say that we are to sign 18 year old forward from Porto, Fabio Silva, for £35m.

The Express and Star is quoted on Google saying an announcement should be made today of Wolves signing 18 year old Fabio Silva from Porto for £35m (40m Euros)!! Seemingly another deal done by Jorge Mendes which ensures his realistic price is met, despite a release clause of 125m Euros being in place!! He scored 8 goals with 6 assists in 33 games last season, which in itself would question the huge price tag!

Looks as though Lyon defender Fernando Marcal as joined.

Another good player, these transfers are statements of intent instead of the wishy washy garbage we had pre fosun of cheap garbage that stayed in the youth team forever.

If we manage to bring in a central midfielder of more attacking intent than Moutinho and a doc replacement I will be very happy with this transfer window assuming no one else leaves

I have seen rumours ( and we know what to make of rumours don't we? Probably a load of cobblers) that the midfielder could be Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

I read that Marcal is an experienced hard tackling player who doesn't take many prisoners (3 red cards plus a number of yellows last season). I hope we actually get to see him play for a settled period!

Yet another story, only this one seems to have more legs to it. Wolves are looking to bring in midfielder Vitor Ferreira (Vitinha), another from Porto. 20 years old on a season long lone with an option to buy for about £18m.

I must admit that the intention of Fosun seems to be being maintained. I was just a bit worried at the beginning of the transfer window that further investment looked unlikely but once again they have stepped up to the mark. Looking forward to the start of the season with a greater optimism particularly as it would seem that Traore and Raul will still be with us.

More rumours, I know, but the same Portuguese journalist who was on the ball about Silva and Marcel (or Ferreira, I can't remember) is saying we are in for Alex Telles in front of Man Utd. If we pull that off and that doesn't stir your blood you might as well call the undertaker.

Another confirmed signing this evening with the arrival of 20 year old midfielder Vitigno who has grown in the Porto team alongside Fabio Silva. I have also seen claims that we are still looking for a replacement for the Doc, but... so far so good!!

Not saying I’m not excited to see wolves paying 35 mil for a player that is proper quality, just if we’d should of gotten 25 for the Doc (then I’d be over the moon!)

Jota was a good bit of business though and we seem to know what we are doing, now...

So hopefully we can some day, relax when the transfer window opens, knowing we are good for it!!

Never heard of him either but have been to Angers. Got stuck in a traffic jam, blocked by a French woman with a yapping chihuahua in the front with her. A very french scene ensued where I resorted to a combination of Gallic hand waving and Anglo-Saxon language.

Probably a good move for Vinager.

AIt Nouri is a fast left back with decent dribbling ability - one of the best left backs in France and a definite upgrade

My best pal is a Man U fan dating back to Munich days. He still talks about Wolverhampton boy Duncan Edwards.
When I mentioned disappointment at missing Europe so narrowly and building Wolves to break into the ‘elite’ he replied with a tale about Charlton who parted company with Curbishley when they believed he had “taken them as far as he was going to” (they promptly slid into deserved obscurity).
My point is that even people who are knowledgeable and with a long memory seem be dubious about our commitment and, yes, vision. Compare us with Charlton? How dare you.

Im not sure what point you are making Chicago but Fosun have poured tens of millions into wolves

If you think we are where we are due to the manager rather than half the Portugal national team playing for us and players we could only dream of years ago you're deluded. The Mendez influence has also had a huge part to play in our "success".

The performances in recent times have been a disgrace - I'm not saying he should be sacked but the negative football passing backwards is starting to grate with the players we have.

If we had an owner like Morgan and Nuno was managing the squad Jackett had , we would be be stuck in the championship indefinitely. Charlton didn't have a pot to p1ss in so not sure what relevance they have and were continually overachieving under Curbishley. We have spent more on players in the last 3 years than clubs like Sevilla yet were tossed aside by them like a ragdoll too petrified to come out of our own half for most of that match

His idiotic point, not mine, was that Wolves by recent standards have already been ‘overachieving’ for which we should be grateful. It takes a while before people change their views, so that if for instance Everton or Leicester do really well this season, the media will not call them Top Six. Fosun’s ambition is deep but it will take time to be a Top club

Agreed Chicago, people seem to still think of wolves as a little club overachieving but time we raised expectation levels and the bar.

Apart from the central midfield, I'm happy with the window and the acquisitions made. I wouldn't be surprised to see the two slugs in central midfield next out of the door and upgraded... maybe Neves can join Wigan rugby league

And on my return from my holiday I turn the page of my Wolves calendar to find October's stars ............ Ruben Vinagre and Diogo Jota!!!

This is not based on one performance for Villa v Liverpool last week but in terms of an attack minded midfielder who can support the linking of defence and forward line, pose a threat himself, decent engine etc, I believe someone like Barkley would have fitted our bill nicely. He can be a bit marmite but I think he would have been great for us and changed the dimension in the middle, for the good.

We’ve bought a few youngsters again, okay highly rated, but hope they don’t turn out to be ones for the future again, sit on the bench or similar. I do wonder if we look at decent English based players in earnest ..... as well as further afield?

I know what you mean Ivy, and I know I have posted before saying that we should go after Grealish for the same reasons, and I agree we seem to overlook the English talent available to us- whether that is due to cost/salaries I don’t know.
From what I read at the time of his arrival, and from his second half appearance at Sheff Utd I think the club may be hoping that Vitinha will meet this particular need.

I'm not sure what relevance English players have to Wolves Ivy - besides half the England squad weren't born in England anyway and the nationality of someones passport shouldn't affect our transfer policy. I'm quite happy for a Mexican to lead the wolves attack instead of John down the road with a British bulldog tat on his arm screaming God save the Queen p1ssed out of his tiny brain eulogising over Jamaican born Sterling doing it for Queen and country.

Wolves are a multi cultural/national club now led by a chinese organisation, full of portugese players... who cares if we sign someone who has a British passport or not.

Cheshire, Grealish is of Irish descent playing for Ireland under 21s and then just decided to switch to England illustrating how daft it is focusing on someones "nationality". The average person probably has half a dozen countries they could play for with tenuous links and I don't understand how an Irish youth player switching to England can give anyone any joy to support.. would you cheer louder if Grealish scored compared to Traore/Jimenez simply because one night he decided to "switch his nationality"?

I hope Coady does well but I always enjoy England losing just for a laugh and I'm 100 % English as far as I know. The only time I'd support this country would be in war, a team rammed full of irish, welsh, scots , africans is about as English as a pot noodle is to a gourmet meal.

When a major tournament comes around the general consensus of opinion seems to be " lets all cheer on people we don't know due to a government document declaring their nationality" despite people like Grealish playing for Ireland youth..... lets not is my motto I'd sooner see a wolves player score the winner for Mexico or portugal in the world cup than some idiot for En ger land who plays for United born in cape town
