Match Thread: Arsenal vs Wolves

Wolves travel to the Emirates today for their first encounter in London of the season, hoping to maintain their recent good performances at the new Arsenal stadium.
Coach Nuno Espirito Santo will surely be happy to welcome captain Connor Coady back into his team today after having to miss his first game in the Premiership on Monday. Romain Saiss however is still sidelined due to Coronavirus issues. Nuno has refused to say whether he sill stick with the back four line-up he played on Monday against Southampton or revert to the more established back three.
Arsenal played in Europe on Thursaday night and then their return flight was apparently delayed, which, on top of the absence of several players due to injuries may give Wolves a good opportunity to take the points.
The referee for today's game will be Michael Oliver
The match will be shown live as part of Sky TV's Super Sunday presentation, and will kick off at 7:15pm
This board will hope to carry updates providing the site doesn't give us problems again!! Please post your observations for the benefit of those unable to otherwise follow the game

A very attack minded team being fielded by Nuno for tonight's game. Three changes with Marcal in for Kilman, Neto in for Ait Nouri and Moutinho in for Neves.

The Wolves app have presented the line up as a back 4, Donk and Moutinho in central midfield, (left to right), Neto, Podence and Traore above them with Jimenez centre forward.

You score, we score. Seems the philosophy of our team today. Not that tight at the back but have real purpose going forward.

A period of Arsenal pressure ends up with a whistle for an accidental head injury to an Arsenal player. That passage of pressure came after some really sloppy defensive play by big Willy when we were comfortable in possession

Half time whistle goes. First half dominated by the horrible clash of heads between Luiz & Raul Jimenez which led to Raul going to hospital & we can only hope he will be OK.
Wolves ha be played very w ell in my opinion utilising a back four defence which involves Rui a. Lot more than usual. Neto, Adama & DP have posed a real threat up front whilst Fabio is doing his bit. Two well taken goals and the only blot is the one conceded to a set piece header.

Great scoreline but soured by Raul injury, taken to hospital.
Fantastic goal by Podence, such fast feet. Traore seems to have a point to prove and is not being closed down at all. Fabio seems to be finding his feet and presented Traore with a sublime opportunity. Dendoncker must be kicking himself, the scoreline could be greater in our favour.
Great showing by the team and hopefully more to come.

Good defending by Gabriel to deny Fabio after a fine run by Neto. Joao set up for a shot & he takes out Gabriel with it! Looks like he’ll be OK though thankfully

Indeed Saka should. Our defending isn’t tip top at the moment!! Best form of defend is attack however.

We are playing very well down both wings & CC is as imperious in a 4 man defence, although they’ve lost control at the back a bit in last few minutes.

First of all, fingers crossed for Raul. Let's hope for a speedy recovery. It looked nasty but things sound encouraging.
Surprised we started with a back four again.
Fantastic win although got a bit hairy towards the end. Everyone did well tonight. Coady was fantastic, I was impressed with Marcel and Moutinho and Traore played well but m.o.m for me was Neto.
Into the top six for the time being at least and with the run of fixtures coming up a win was important.
All in all, a good night and would have been a great one if not for Raul's injury.

A superb match and a brilliant win, tempered by the sickening injury to Jimenez. Everything crossed for him.
The formation really helped our attack minded front men and two really excellent goals, particularly Podence .... sublime skill. But such wins often come with heart jangling moments and having been easily the best side for 70 minutes, we surrendered territory and placed my health at serious risk for the next 20 😂

Much more adventurous tonight and the players seemed to take to it like ducks to water,enjoying a bit more creative freedom. Neto putting in some very good performances and Moutinho starting to show some of his swagger going forward. Unfortunately had to revert to the tried and tested counter attack system when Arsenal took over in the second half, always serves to frustrate me when I know how effective we are when we press teams into their own half. But three points to the good is nonetheless a good nights work so let’s hope Raul makes a quick and full recovery and is able to rejoin the squad for a catalogue of difficult matches coming our way.
