Match Thread: Everton vs Wolves
two attacking wing backs

Wolves travel to Goodison Park to play Everton in their final away match of this season against, and in front of fans once again. This will be an interesting challenge for both teams after poor results for both at the weekend.
After losing at home to relegated Sheffield United on Sunday, Everton need three points from tonight's game if they are to have any chance of achieving European football for next season. They will also be keen to perform for their Manager Carlo Ancelotte, after he was named as a potential replacement for Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
Wolves have little to play for other than to finish above 12th place - and possibly above local rivals Aston Villa - but squad members will surely be keen to erase the memory of the poor defeat to Spurs on Sunday, and the young players who have featured recently will be keen to underline their value to the squad.
Nuno is likely to have to rely on many of the same players from Sunday's game as his options continue to decline. Daniel Podence has joined the list of injured or unavailable players following an operation on his problem groin. Pedron Neto and Jonny remain sidelined, but Marcal is close to being fit to return. Raul Jiminez attended an appointment with his specialist on Tuesday, but the outcome is so far unknown. Willy Boly sat the Spurs game out and may be in line to return to the first team tonight. Theo Corbeanu made his debut late on in London, but will not be seen tonight after playng - and scoring twice - for the Under 23's on Monday.
Tonight's game kicks off at 18:00hrs and will be screened by Sky Sports. Our referee will be young Andy Madley with VAR duties met by Graham Scott
This board will carry updates on the progress of the game, and members are encouraged to post their own observations for the benefit of those unable to watch it.

Boly, Kilman, Coady in a back 3/5 - that feels stronger to me
Good luck to the lads, the big question is, can we score a goal??

Wishing for a good performance with result to match.

How many corners do we need!!!!
At least some long corners are being put in tonight Ivy!!
Everton 0 Wolves 0
Traore looking good and impressed with MGW.
If that’s our bad half out of the way, maybe we can achieve 3 points tonight!

Are Everton very ordinary or are we making them look ordinary?
Great to see more players getting forward to support attacks and ball retention has been much improved.
Good to watch and looking forward to the second half
Everton 1 Wolves 0
Boly didn’t get near him

Something needs to happen. My suggestion is get Moutinho off. Not his best match in old gold

All finished and Everton celebrate scoring the only goal of the game in what was a poor performance from them, and it was a good header from a corner.
A much better showing from our team than at Spurs and I think a draw would have been a fair result
Everton 1 Wolves 0
Have got to admire RAN close control and ball skills.
Roll on Man Utd, let’s put this season behind us and look forward to the next.
I certainly didn’t think we deserved to lose, but that’s football and if you don’t create clear cut chances (we were pretty sterile in that second half) and score A goal, then we will always struggle.
I thought our best player was Adama Traore again with a pretty decent contribution from MGW. Ait Nouri was good too. Today we lacked a consistent tenacity and drive from midfield, particularly from the old boys i.e Moutinho and Neves.
What to do? It’s all about the closed season but with a bit more push and at home AND in front of 4,500 Wolves fans, perhaps we might stand a chance versus Manchester Utd?
One thing, I advise serious training on corners, we mullered ‘um on corner count but diddly squat to show in terms of outcome. Some of corners today (were had loads in the first 45), whether long or short, were truly awful.
We live in hope!

What about our penalty shout? From the replays, I thought it should have been given.

Sounds a bit different to normal with a decent first half and not so good second and sounds as though Traore and Gibbs-White played well.
This lack of goals is a serious concern and must be addressed in the summer. Whether it's as simple as bringing Jimenez back, we'll have to wait and see but something needs to change.
I won't be sorry to see the end of this dog's dinner of a season.
