One change by Bruno for the starting Xl with Nelson Semedo starting in place of Hoever. Line-up

should be an entertaining match. Watching Spurs play City last week they were very reliant on the counter attack which they exercised with aplomb. I expect they will press more today as we do not have the squad that City have although if our high pressing game is improving we may cause them some problems of our own. With Nuno apparently interested in securing the transfer of Traore there is no better day for him to perform well and take his chances. Semedo in for Hoever is a good call although he may not last the whole 90 minutes.
Some good options on the bench but we are seriously short of players beyond that so have fingers crossed that we bring in some players soon to add a bit more depth.

About as strong a side that we could have put out at the moment although I would have preferred Dendoncker to Joao.

Looking forward to this match.

Will we click as a side, i.e. more like the second half v Leicester?

Will we have enough to overcome a side who were on emotional overdrive last weekend?

Will Nuno’s tactics and team be too much?

Lively encounter, what a shame we are losing because we are giving them a game - Traore looking dangerous, Raul pretty sharp, Trinc with tricks, midfield positive with good support from MArcal and Semedo. Spurs do have the potential, and real threat from the counter attack

Fantastic ball floated over to Raul in the box but he just failed to control it. Into final added minute.

Took me ages to get a decent stream and I missed the goal and our penalty call. Since I have been on we have been superb attacking continually, but still no final threat. Spurs should have got a second but that has been the only realistic chance I have seen for them. Adama is on fire - is he trying to impress Nuno? We are pressing and attacking across the pitch and our midfield have been bossing the game.
Shame we are losing to a penalty!!

Lovely to watch, we must surely get a result if we continue to play like this.

How on earth are we losing, and yet with more composure it could easily be 0-2.

Traore is excellent and has their left back(s) on toast, even two of them can’t stop him.

Very good attacking play, good build up, some lovely passing, overall comfortable in defend (within reason!) and some great opportunities but no real clear cut chance which is so bl00dy frustrating. We have been the better side, simple as that.

Can we do something Wolves haven’t consistently managed in recent times …… a full 90 minute performance?

Here we ago again & straight on the attack. Adama just couldn’t get a shooting chance in front of goal, & CC’s cross was wayward. NS let’s a shot go in the box after intense pressure by Wolves but is wide

The impressive Kilman makes a wonderful interception from Son, which otherwise could well be in the back of the net

Son breaks and it takes a good interception by Kilman to concede the corner. Cleared but then Raul booked for a trip on Reguillon

Sa makes a great save from Bergwijn and a decent follow up from Son …… that was a sharp counter attack over the top from aLoris goal kick. Dangerous moment, but it’s generally all us again so far this half.

All over and infuriatingly we lose again by a single goal and even worse a penalty. We were by far the better team but we could still be there this time tomorrow and we wouldn’t score. It will once again be all about Traore and his terrible inability to score when one on one with a keeper which makes all the media quotes about his value highly debatable. We can only hope that practice this week will lead to goals next week against a United teamsh9 could only draw at Southampton!!
My computer is beginning to know that when I type Wolves it should be followed by a 0!!

Fabulous to watch and on another day Spurs could have been humiliated.
Spurs beginning to look like Wolves of last season so I don’t expect them to maintain any sort of reasonable league position.
Such good performances from so many in the Old Gold shirts, Semedo really shows what he can do in this new system, Trincao settling in nicely and Kilman doesn’t put a foot wrong.
Neves dominating the midfield far more than he used to, relishing the new style I guess. Traore is costing us points even though he was mesmerising at times.
We are going to take some teams apart this season if these improvements continue so currently a big thumbs up from me for this new adventure.

No-one had a bad match. Alli bought the penalty and was diving before contact with Sa. I can understand the ref giving it with only one view but why didn't our old friend VAR overturn it. Don't give me gamesmanship, he was diving before contact, a cheating tw4t.
Sa made some good saves, Kilman was excellent and should keep his place, although maybe on the left, even when Boly is fit. Traore was fantastic apart from that predictable one-on-one cock-up.
The only two disappointing aspects were the standard of crossing, one or two exceptions but by and large woeful, and this chronic lack of goals. 36 in the League last season was pathetic and although only two matches in, it has to be addressed, whether that means bringing in another forward I don't know but the standard of crossing doesn't help.

Could have, should have , would have etc etc ...
Last year we averaged approx 1 goal a game.... has this been addressed...NO.

All the good work over the last few years is quickly going down the drain.
Ok so we played well against Spurs - a team which has proved over the last few seasons that they have no bottle whatsoever.
Just one question.... why has a certain agent got so much say and control over the club????
We will be in a relegation battle this year... 3 hours of football and we have failed to score.

Not sure how we came away from that game without any points. We had so many chances but like last week we couldn't put one away. I thought the football we played at times was much better than last season. Spurs couldn't cope with adama at times it's just a shame he couldn't take one of his chances again, he's so frustrating! It's time for jeff to back bruno with a few signings. a defender, a midfielder and a striker are a must for me. On to utd next week another easy one, we will play a lot worse than that and win this season thats for sure.

We came away from that game with no points because we didnt have the ability or conviction to take our chances, similar to many games last year. Yes it is somewhat encouraging that we played well but we were paying at home against an AVERAGE premiership side. Nuno knew that he had taken Wolves as far as he could and he was quickly on his toes when another opportunity came along. We play Utd next week so we could find ourselves on zero points after 3 games. However, after that we play Watford and Brentford and they are the games we need to win , big time!

I’m afraid I don’t share your pessimism Irish the showing today was so much better than anything we watched last season. I am also of the opinion that Nuno didn’t walk he was pushed because he had indeed done as much as he was capable of, much as we appreciated it.

Bruno has had 3 weeks to work with his squad and we have injured players yet to return which will also make a difference even if there are no further signings.

A paradoxical feeling - we were the better side and yet we lost, indeed conspired not to score. I’ve seen enough in 3 halves of football to think we’ll be okay and yet, by not scoring, I feel our vulnerability has not been addressed - or is it too early for panic? Only time will tell but it doesn’t take a great deep thinker to state the obvious about not scoring - but what if we don’t!!

Stranger things have happened than beating Manchester United next week, and there’s a good prospect we’ll give them a good game ……. however will we? We have a chance.

No goals - it’s bad news. 2 gilt edged chances have fallen to Traore and missed, yet today in particular, I thought he was excellent, apart from the obvious. He absolutely turned the Spurs defence inside out at times. Keep him is what I firmly think. Added to that very competent performances from pretty much every player. Sa made some excellent saves when called upon, the back three did okay with another very good and comfortable Kilman contribution. Neves, for me, looked as though he was getting back to his best, passing, passing range, foresight, just really good but needs an additional tweak on his shooting radar. Semedo and Marcal supported well and pressed, flashes on decent play from Trincao and Raul led the line really well. Would have to agree with AF, some of the general crossing quality was below par when in really good positions.

Whats more, it was enjoyable to watch , even exciting and yet ultimately frustrating. No prizes for purely good effort and entertainment however.

Still scratching my head as to how we didn’t come away with at least a point however. That, as they say, is football.

Fingers crossed we find the net soon and don’t get dragged down, losing next week, even if we are on fire, will apply a great deal of unwanted early pressure.

In terms of reinforcements, I think Chesh recently mentioned about going for Lingard - what a great signing that would be …… shame that Jorge doesn’t represent him ……… i.e. Bob Hope of us even enquiring

Lupinhowler , i am not being pessimistic , I am being realistic. Did we not average one goal a game last season?? Have we brought in any players who are likely to change this? Have we failed to score in 2 games this season? We are relegation material at it stands. By the way, I hope i am proved wrong.

Irish, I very much respect your opinion. You are correct, last season's goal tally was abysmal but this season we have Raul back who didn't play for the majority of last season. Last week, for at least half the match, we outplayed a top six side and this week completely outplayed Spuds who last week beat Manchester City. United next week will obviously be tough but the four matches after that are a different kettle of fish.
If, after seven matches, we are in a similar situation as now, you may have a point but after two matches, having outplayed the opposition, it is far too soon to get the eeby-jeebies.

Hi Andy Fincher, I hope your keeping well. I also fuly respect the opinion of both you and Lupinhowler. I just believe that a lot of teams (outside of the big six) are improving year on year,,, Leeds, southampton , west ham etc. . Last season we took a step backwards and our form overall in the league was poor. (Note i didnt see a lot of games I admit) . I am a big believer in the old saying that the league table doesnt lie and last season we came close to getting sucked into a relegation battle. Of course I am not going to base my opinion solely on two games this season, I just feel that after a few years of progress as a club we are now going backwards. I am not really into MORAL victories. i.e. we outplayed the opposition and were unlucky to lose. As the golfer Jack Nicklaus once said,, " the better i get, the luckier i get". Again i have to stress that it was Tottenham we played the other day, not City or Chelsea. Everybody on here would agree that we were crying out for a goalscorer last year.. creating chances is a great indicator of a teams perrormance but it amounts to nothing if those chances are not converted. The Premiership is a ruthless league and regardless of who the club is, if you stand still you go backwards. We are regressing in my opinion. Again as i said, I hope im wrong!
