Only two days after hosting Spurs at Molineux, Wolves must head to Nottingham tonight to play their first cup game of the season.
Wolves boss Bruno Lage must come up with a team capable of winning this game whilst retaining players for the home League match against Manchester United on Sunday. So it is reasonable to expect quite a few changes in tonight's line-up with the likes of John Ruddy, Rayan Ait Nouri, Morgan Gibbs-White and Fabio Silva expected to start. Whilst Willy Boly and Daniel Podence are now back in training following injury lay-off it is thought unlikely that they will feature.
This competition has proved to be a banana skin for Wolves in recent season, losing to opposition from lower leagues on several occasions, and failing to get further than the 4th round since the 1996/7 season. Notts Forest have had a worse start to their league programme than Wolves, losing their first four games, so they will be very keen to claim a Premier League scalp and progress in the competition this evening.
The game will kick off at the City Ground at 8:00pm and will be refereed by Andy Davies
The usual level of commentary will not be available for tonight's game due to prior commitments, but board members are encouraged to share their observations of the game for the benefit of those unable to otherwise follow it.

I’m sure that Bruno will shuffle the pack but I’m still hoping for a victory and it will be nice to see the ball hit the back of the net and build some squad confidence.

Grabben must be the only player over 17 Forest are playing but he manages to get a shot in. came to nothing but their kids are gradually getting into it

Podence bounces one off the Forest post, but another one does not go in. Wolves approaching 50 shots without a goal in the season. Unbelievable.

Forest , who we beat in 1980 LC Final, against the odds, are a pale shadow of earlier times. A reminder of that fact Wolves have come a long way from the depths.

Hopefully this will boost our confidance and might be the start of a minor goalfest ( athough Forest are not exactly quality opposition). However sometimes it just takes a spark to get going. The game against Man Utd will tell us a lot.

Watched the highlights on Wolves TV this afternoon. Some really nice goals, I loved the Podence finish.
At the risk of repeating Irish, We can only hope this will provide a bit of well earned confidence in the squad ahead of Sunday’s match v Manchester Utd. A clean sheet, regardless of opposition, is also very welcome.
Good win and we’ll see who we draw later this evening after Albion play Arsenal. 42 years and counting!!
