At a time when Wolves fans are hoping their club will succeed in signing a new striker for the squad, Newcastle United come calling, boasting the £68million purchase of Alexander Isak who may feature in tomorrow's match.
As expected Newcastle have not been slow in spending their new found wealth on new players, although perhaps not as rashly as some anticipated they would. The new players have however had a very positive impact on their games so far this season, notably in their 3 - 3 draw with Man City last Sunday, which surely indicates Wolves will need to be at their best to collect all three points from their next game.
Meanwhile Wolves celebrated their first win of the season in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, even if was against Championship club Preston. Goals from Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore were well celebrated by the fans and the team, and it is to be hoped they will get things started for the team in terms of scoring Premiership goals. New boy Matheus Nunes played the full game on Tuesday and was widely praised for the way he is settling into the team, but most of the talk this week around the club has addressed whether Pedro Neto will move to Arsenal, however at the moment this seems unlikely. Wolves are reportedly still pursuing striker Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart, amongst other reported targets, whilst Wolves fans will surely have been shocked to hear the news that Leeds United are interested in taking Hee Chan Hwang. Offers of taxi fare payments have already surfaced from some fans!!!
Wolves don't appear to have any injury concerns this week, so un unchanged starting Xl may be on the cards against Newcastle, who will be without striker Callum Wilson.
The game will kick off at 2pm on Sunday and will be screened as part of Sky's 'Super Sunday' coverage. Our referee will be Peter Bankes with Lee Mason on VAR duty

This will be a tough afternoon, Newcastle will give no quarter and will be up for the game. At full strength we should match them and hopefully gain a break and hit the back of the net, or is that wishful thinking.
First full house for Nunes who will want to impress so with Neves and Moutinho alongside him he should be able to put his qualities on show.
Raul fit again and was looking good in the last match so if he gets some decent service he could cause Newcastle some problems, not sure who will start alongside him but we are not short of options. Traore, super sub and Semedo to start.

In what I think is a sensible move Jonny replaces RAN at left back with Semedo on right side. Neves, Nunes & Joao in midfield with Neto, Raul and Guedes in attack. Probably as strong a line-up as Bruno could start with and a decent bench too. I’m set up in a pub in Yorkshire on a trip away from home, so a bit limited on what I can post today, but my mate Ivybridge Wolf will look after things I’m sure!!

Collins is a donkey, he was relegated with Burnley for a reason and may well be with us. Replacing coady an England international with this guy is utterly laughable on so many levels but symptomatic of our terrible recruitment in recent times.

I had to pause for a moment and figure out what you were referring to then Angry 🤣🤣. Apart from one mistake where he let the ball go under his foot I think Collins and Kilman have both done OK. Wood certainly hasn’t had much of a look in - which is unusual against us!

I really have to worry about whether Bruno Lage actually knows what he is doing. He insists on using Hwang who is as much use as a wet dishcloth on the pitch and his clearance went straight to St Maximin for him to score. Then he brings Sonk on with a minute to go in extra time whilst Adama is still on the bench.
He made a lot of play about the five subs issue but I really don’t think he knows how to use it.

Better management of the game has to be a priority, we dominated the first half and capitulated in the second. Two brilliant goals in an end to end game but we got a point by the skin of our teeth. Neves was superb but Semedo gets MOM for me, hardly put a foot wrong which is something when up against Maximan. Hwang was awful from the time he set foot on the pitch, poor control no chasing back, let's hope Leeds put in a bid.

A point more than I thought we would get and a valuable point in our battle to avoid championship football. I have to laugh at all this nonsense about being optimistic regarding a change in formation .. if you have no strikers at the club and I include a post injury raul in that equation as he isn't up to playing premiership football anymore, do people honestly think we are going to win games of football? We struggled to beat the Preston reserves mid week with a reserve team they put out.
A 6 pointer against the cherries mid week, I'd we cant beat them probably time to call it a day as I've lost count of the number of league games it is now without a win, 13 I think. All this b*llocks about more defenders equalling more goals... as the old saying goes, you cant put lipstick on a pig.

Hwang's confidence must be shot to pieces, Chesh. Should go out on loan before he becomes more of a scapegoat than he is now.
I also worry that Lage is not reacting flexibly enough to what the match demands. Neto's substitution seemed premature, and the starting midfield looked out on their feet in the last 10 mins.
In general you could almost feel the anxiety building up in the last 15 mins, from competing to hanging on.

I don't like to single players out but I hope chan is sold next week the guy is not up to it and is a liability. Why bruno decided to bring him on instead of adama only he knows. Very frustrating 2 points throwed away. When the toon scored bruno brings the donk on instead of adama, its like he settled for the draw. Not good enough bruno. Pressure will be on if he loses at Bournemouth in the week.

Sorry for my lack of input today, family and grandkids limited any meaningful opportunity to post, but still managed to keep a decent eye on the match at least, though perhaps not as detailed as usual! I need to watch it again really, though will relent if advised by others on here!
From what I could see, it was a good and reasonably entertaining match, swung by two excellent goals. We looked okay from what I could see but no more than that. Never really felt we’d get a second, despite the one chalked off. The idea of four of the back is to get more up front, yet at times in the second half, it appeared we were defending in bulk (in the main pretty well) and not many outlets up front. Not much different I thought.
I wasn’t able to absorb the Hwang performance, but in terms of either turning a match or defending a lead, from what I’ve seen, he’s not your man! Shouldn’t be too harsh but the substitutions made little sense to me and certainly didn’t alter the course.
A word on Neves …….. what a terrific player and performance today. ‘E cor do it on ‘is own.
Next up Bournemouth. I’ve mentioned to a few mates that after an absolutely crushing defeat yesterday, what better way to build a bit of confidence than have a trip to Molineux next up!! It was a comment made firmly tongue in cheek, but my god, I’m a bit concerned there I may be an element of truth in the statement now. We need to win don’t we ……… it has to come on Wednesday now.

A word on Jimenez. He seemed to do a lot of complaining, and it was pretty embarrassing to see him rummaging around in a towel presumably to find that pirate hook to celebrate his disallowed goal.
