As I write (July 7th2023), as with every closed season, there are plenty of discussions about comings and goings at Wolves in preparation for the start of 2023/2024. Currently Wolves fans are primarily reflecting on players who have or will be leaving to alleviate the Wolves FFP situation we all keep getting told about. Maybe new recruits will be found soon too?
Neves the great has gone for £47M to the footballing hotbed that is Saudi Arabia. Collins will have another opportunity to make a name for himself at Brentford for £23M whilst our superb servant, Conor Coady moves to Leicester City for £7.5M. Good luck to them all.
Meanwhile contract expiries for Moutinho, Costa and Adama Traore see them depart (apparently the latter reported in the clubs June retained and released list and issued by the Premier League).
There’s a lot of experience and players who became firm Wolves favourites amongst those names. Hayao Kawabe (who?) has gone to Standard Liege for £1.25M too.
There are other players with futures to be decided and as yet, I am unsure of their immediate future e.g., Jimenez, Fabio Silva, Guedes, Mosquera to name but a few.
We’ve loaned out a few too, Tyler Roberts (19 years) to Doncaster Rovers whilst Nigel Lonwijk (21) and Theo Corbeanu (21) sent out on loan to Grasshoppers. The former I saw play a number of times whilst on loan at Plymouth Argyle in their title winning season …. a loss for them, I’m sure.
Who’s in then? Boubacar Traore and Cunha seemingly so with contracts upgraded from loan to permeant deals.
Who else? Who knows!!
Please feel free to update this thread with any information, knowledge or rumours associated with Wolves transfers. With just over a month to go before the season kick off at Old Trafford, we are all aware of the need for a degree of influx into the side and those areas requiring strengthening, something which Lopetegui (who has now been informed of the corporate Wolves ‘project’ and direction!!) knows only too well!

Surely with the sales so far, along with the reduced wages from the departure of Mouthino, Costa((Adama?) etc, we should be in better shape? Certainly the media guys are now talking up the recent Wolves nearly-men like Sarabia and Neto, along with returns of long term injured (like that seven foot tall Austrian who fell over after his first twenty minutes playing).
It looks like we might be going up to Old Trafford giving the B team a go. My biggest concern is the plan to get in the young-and-hungry players you can scoop up for £10 to £15 million, which appears to have two problems. Firstly, that plan seems precisely what Luton and loads of other clubs might be trying, including several in the championship. Secondly, and more important, the whole of our Fosun-years strategy has been built upon Mendez, with his big money connections.
It would appear to be extremely risky.

Reading this morning that The Doc is in talks to come back. What do people think of that? Personally Semedo and others have only managed a shadow of an impression of Doherty since he left for Spurs, however that was primarily in a back 5 and I hope a return doesn’t spoil his legacy.
I’ve also read Podence may be in talks to leave. I wouldn’t cry too much over that. A very skilful player at his best but whose inconsistency and ability to lose possession for fun drives me mad!
What about the likes of Jimenez. Any news?

A couple of new signings of good quality are needed to lift the general vibe around the club. I'm pessimistic at the best of times, so I find it hard to shake the feeling we a stuck in the doldrums.
I'd be sorry to see Sa go. After a great first album as it were he produced a very mixed follow-up. Hopefully he stays and produces a banger this season.
I can't see a problem with getting Doc back. It's worth a punt as competition for Semedo, and if it doesn't work out then there isn't a great deal lost.
Agree about Podence, I was wondering whether trying RAN in that Podence role might be an idea?
Jimenez seems to have that old groin-strain problem again, I just wonder if he's becoming an albatross around the club's neck after almost 2 years out on the fringes. I hope he moves on and feels happier elsewhere.

Old warhorses incoming but no marquee signing despite all the press chatter. Underwhelming so far, let's hope something decent happens soon.

I suppose it's always possible that he is scrutinising the existing workforce, particularly Chiquinho and Sasa - and to some extent Jimenez upfront to partner Cunha, and whether Ryan Giles is a good option for left back. All the talk seems to be about Alex Scott from Bristol City, but he's predominantly a midfielder which we seem to have a few of. However the lack of decent central defenders is certainly a worry after the sale of Collins, Coady and Sanderson.

Looking now like Raul Jimenez could be on his way to Fulham for £5.5m whilst Luton are in for Ryan Giles. No sign of any real signings though!!

Still plenty more outs than ins. Maybe there’s a master plan? Obviously the window shuts at the end of August but with the first match now 3 weeks away and Lopetegui needing recruits, well, I am surprised only to see Doc come in.so far.
Understandable Raul is likely on his way. Could we get more than £5.5m for him? Maybe, but on current form and one year on his contract, maybe not. I’m just surprised he’s looking to stay in England. All the best to him.

I genuinely can’t understand whats going on at Wolves. Reports today our bids for Scott, which are stated as likely to fall through (according to the E&S) and was based on current flimsy Wolves financial stability. The suggestion being we need to sell even more before further recruitment ?

Fosun have quickly realised we will never get into the champions league as a club, so are taking the philosophy of doing the bare minimum to keep the club in the premier league. The ideal scenario is spending just enough to keep the premiership money rolling in, why would they spend obscene amounts of money to try to challenge the " top teams" when it can't be realistically done for a club of wolve's size? It's only the fans that care about finishing above Villa and a " top ten finish"..it makes little difference in the eyes of Fosun financially as the placement money is modest compared to transfer fees.
I'm sure a few young and hungry hidden portugese gems will be signed in the next month so there's no reason we can't finish 12th - 15th with a good run in one of the devalued cups where city will knock us out with their reserve team. If that doesn't get you excited for the forthcoming season, nothing will.

In addition to all this, we can't buy due to " financial fair play rules". To summarise city owned by a corrupt Arab regime can spend hundreds of millions unopposed with little or no penalty, whilst clubs out size are penalised by the very rules supposed to make it a level playing field.
All the best to anyone sticking to this rubbish next season of praying to stay up and a " good run in the cup". The game has gone in so many areas making it boring, predictable and uncompetitive. Until there are proper regulations imposed making the premier league watchable I shall continue watching local non league football. Pay on the gate, no footballer on 500 billion a week, no VAR, no clubs owned by multi billionaires meaning no one else can compete with " rules" persecuting the small clubs. 2023 football at the top flight level is an utter gutter of capitalism gone wrong, it isn't a " sport" anymore, it's politics regarding who has the richest owner managing them and for clubs like wolves, there is basically nothing to play for year after year.

And we want Romance from our sport/team, but this is Love. The kind that endures despite long periods of tedium (and sometimes dark doubts). We had a bit of swashbuckling romance for a couple of years, and it is starting to feel like old news.
Most of us will show up as normal with deep misgivings, which will turn to despair if we have two points from the first five games, or euphoria if by some miracle we actually prosper.

Sir Jack was right decades ago, a club should retain strong links with its own country and local area. Virtually every premier league club is owned by foreign owners with hardly any British players...our own manager can barely speak English. Most of our squad like many are non British, other than our logo and ground, the club is more portugese than representing the west Midlands. Our fanbase online has people named " Shanghai wolf" with half the mexican contingent @#$%& off after Jimenez left. The sooner the premier league and sky implodes the better.
On another note, JLs interview the other day implies he is looking to leave the club..given I can barely understand a word of his broken English and the fact he obviously doesnt want to be at the club, maybe it isn't such a bad thing.

In any case it is well known that distance lends enchantment, but since the games are all pretty much sold out I am not sure that matters much? I take the scraps no one else wants (one of them was the 5-0 debacle against Man City where Grealish scored early, our new Austrian scorer was carried off on his debut and, worst of all, sitting in the Graham Hawkins).
It will be easier, and cheaper, next season when we are back playing in the Championship

The reason I asked Chicago is you stated " we will keep going" but 5 out of 38 matches suggests otherwise. It wasn't a dig particularly, but no support is unconditional unless it's for your kids / close family etc. I've been to none, the premier league bores me with VAR, financial fair play etc and I don't miss it. That said I live further away than you do, and the idea of travelling over 9 hours to watch 90 mins of overpaid shitehawks booting a ball about doesn't appeal so much these days.
Football is about entertainment, the problem isn't wolves it's the modern day model of the game. The Man city match is one of the highest in demand so disagree with your point re " no one else wants" btw.

Don’t disagree with much of your observations, Angry, about Wolves and indeed football in general however I still love the sport and Wolves. I complain bitterly about every price rise, barmy signing, ridiculous player sale, losing connection with the everyday supporter, false promises of ambition, false promises of intent with Molineux …… yet here I am today buying a ticket for the bloody Brighton match …… and dont get me started on the new online ticketing system …. Total cr@p. Not to say attendance itself or alone defines a fan either.
But I think I’ve said it elsewhere, in my supporting life, aside from the very early 70s, a couple of league cup wins plus the odd spell since, there’s been far more sh!te to endure than light. That’s football, that’s Wolves! Well, for me anyway.
I’ve always held cynical regard for Fosun’s activity at Wolves, whilst recognising the successes . I’ve been drawn in by the hyperbole from Shi in the early days and wowed and wooed by Nuno and his men. But if journo’s from The Athletic are to be believed , then the growing and seeming apathy towards developing Wolves as a footballing side seems to be borne out in the reporting that Fosun are indeed getting cold feet and want out. Only time will tell.
Anyway tomorrows a new day …… another 24 hours to await the news of another player being sold!

I've seen pre seasons like this before, managers not wanting to be here, no goal threat in the team, dodgy defence, negative vibes from players in interviews . Unless there are several incoming players lined up, we won't be a premier league club this time next year.

Fabrizio Romano stating that Man City have increased their offer for Nunes to €60m plus add-ons. There has been a question as to whether Tommy Doyle would be part of a deal coming from City but not clear at the moment. I can’t see Wolves turning that offer down to be honest

You have never won the prediction league for good reason Chicago ( your judgement is awful). That said, I have never seen him kick a ball like every other fan so perhaps he will be new fabio silva ( the last "superstar") The club should be bringing in goal scorers that have some success in their careers, not kids hoping to generate a profit.

Just light hearted banter Chicago, I'm sure you will flourish in the league this season. I have never heard of either player Wolves have signed so can't offer a view other than a striker is needed. We have the great big target man prone to injury but if/when he gets injured again, where are the goals coming from? I didn't expect us to sign anyone

I dont recognise any of these names banded about, I agree with angry, we need players with a premier league pedigree, or at least a championship striker who has reached 15 goals a season, even somebody of the ilk of Kevin Phillips for example, not much to ask I would have thought. Is Mr Mendez still raping the club ?

Podence, clearly on the naughty boy step, has kind of been forced to sign a new Wolves contract (if reports are to be believed) then instantly loaned out to Olympiakos for the season with an option to buy.
