It’s still the last trophy (other than the SVT) ever won, only 43 years ago now, and counting, so hopefully the team will put on a good show.

Difficult to get excited about this game .. I just hope we can put in a good performance against city on Saturday

My usual optimism has been hemorrhaging away following the recent displays so I can only see this as another tough test, a challenge which we may not be up to.

If Ipswich and Wolves both played their best 11, I think Ipswich would win as they have better players as a first 11, but surely a prem squad has a better back up 11 than a championship one. With both teams putting their reserves out, wolves surely will scrape a win to keep the season's aim alive of a good run in the mickey mouse cup. Championship clubs don't tend to have much depth, even ones at the top end

It looks like we may beat the Ipswich reserves, an utter waste of time as a football spectacle. Jeff Shi draws his sword as Maximus Decimus and screams in a gladiator fashion " Are you not entertained". Not really.. after getting beat by city the test will come against Villa. If we lose that super Gaz will be gone.

Some good passes forward from midfield but Hwang and Doc have botth been caught offside receiving them. Ipswich take another shot from distance which goes over the bat.

God we're truly utter shite, it's hard not to laugh . Over 60 million quid worth of "strikers" on at the end and we can't outscore the Ipswich reserves. That said, at least we had a good cup run this year and reached the 3rd round by beating Blackpool. It could be worse, we could be an Accrington Stanley

Don't despair gentlemen, if we lose to Villa, Gaz will be sacked - that is the "final nail in the coffin". I don't actually blame him that much, the recruitment has been utterly dreadful and we don't really deserve to remain in the prem. Who in their right mind would go into a premier league campaign with Cunha and Silva as the main strikers, not to mention the whole debacle over JL. It's incompetence attributable mainly to Fosun along with the braindead entities thinking the likes of Silva would come good.

2-0 up after 15 minutes is more than an adequate platform to go on and progress in this competition. Here we are, another season and no joy in this cup. Exceptionally disappointing.

Obviously didnt see any of the second 45, their winner sounded like it was a terrific strike. Both their goals were good in the first half, but the second was highly dubious, in terms of offside. In any event, our makeshift back line were unable to cope.

It was a very entertaining first 45, I couldn’t quite believe we strode into the lead we had, Hwangs goal was really well worked. Nevertheless it all counted for nothing. Poor tbh and utterly frustrating once again. I see our opponents from last saturday came a cropper tonight just up the A38 from me this evening. It kind of rubber stamps the level of quality that was on show in that 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road.

I agree, if the Shi trigger was pulled on GON any time soon, it just would represent token scapegoat-ism. The problems run deeper.

Ivy, I hope we do give a good account of ourselves against City, a 4 or 5-0 hammering would be deadly in terms of morale, two defeats against City and Villa and we will be catapulted into turmoil , possible change of manager etc..
I said before the Luton match that it was close to a must win game , we have to beat the other poor teams to stand a chance of staying up.
I am trying to stay positive but with a weak defence and a strike force that couldn't score in the red light area of Amsterdam, it is starting to look like Luton, Sheffield Utd and Wolves for the drop, even at this stage of the season. The owners seem to have abandoned ship.

A ridiculous result, two nil up and we still can't win. So the last two losses have been against a team destined for relegation and a championship team who fielded their second string eleven. I see no indication that GON can get this squad to play in a fashion that would give us a glimmer of hope of avoiding relegation and if he were still to be in position when we are in the championship he would still struggle. Time for him to go, the honeymoon is over and we didn't even see the oft quoted new manager bounce. He is so obviously out of his depth along with many of the club hierarchy. Big changes are required and have been long overdue.
