Following Wolves disappointing but perhaps not surprising downfall at Newcastle last Saturday, they return to Molineux today to welcome Fulham FC - the team lying two places below them in the Premiership who have been on a good run, winning three of their last four games, including a well deserved victory at Old Trafford.
Wolves will be keen to show theiur fans today that last week was a one-off and that they can maintain their run of recent positive performances and results. Fulham had a bit of a slump period towards the end of last year but have pulled their socks up and performed very well recently under Marco Silva, scoring plenty of goals, and they will certainly pose a challenge to the home team today. Former Wolves winger Adama Traore has finally made it into the match day squad after struggling with a hamstring issue all season since signing for Fulham in the summer. He will no doubt be keen to show the home fans he still has the final pass which was missing from his performances most of last season. He scored against Brighton in their 3 - 0 win last week with a typical breakaway goal and will surely be looking to repeat that this week. Sadly former Wolves striker Raul Jimenez will not be able to revisit Molineux as he is out with injured.
Wolves boss Gary O'Neil gave a very positive press conference this week, especially in regard to his future with Wolves. He was also clearly delighted to be able to say that the injured players from the last two games (except Hwang Hee Chan) will be fit to play today - Pedro Neto (who is 24 years old today) Joao Gomez and Jose Sa have all recovered from their hamstring issues. The one major injury doubt is Craig Dawson who has a sore groin, and may need to be replaced by Santi Bueno who gave a very confident performance in the recent FA Cup game against Brighton. Matheus Cunha unfortunately remains unavailable.
Wolves will surely be keen to show that they can beat today's opponents when the referee doesn't give them gratuitous penalties as happened twice in the reverse fixture!! We Will see how referee Tony Harrington - who sent Joao Gomes off at Brentford - fares today with John Brooks on VAR Duty!!
Today's match is due to kick off at 3pm and will not be televised. Highlights will of course be available on MotD tonight.

So we change to a back four this afternoon with Ait-Nouri alongside Semedo, Kilman and Bueno. Toti drops to the bench Nathan Fraser gets his first start up front with Neto, Sa and Gomez regaining their places. Line-up:

Canny selection by GON, leaves plenty of options to charge formation and respond to the problems Fulham may pose.

All Wolves until a fine pass by Wilson to Iwobi then Pereira’s shot is well parried by Jose. JRB was fouled on the left wing but nothing given and is now needing attention. Doyle being prepared in case JRB cannot continue

Nasty nip on RAN’s achilles by Wilson but he’s OK. Muniz brought down by Bueno ten yds outside the area, & their queueing up to take it! Floated in and put out for a corner by Mario. Frenetic activity around our area with really good play by F’ham until Tosin hits the bar and it goes out!

Fraser rarnsca free kick off Tosin. Great play by RANuntil taken out by Reid who gets no card. Free kick spoiled by offside. Pedro Neto runs into area on right before suddenly pulling up with another hamstring issueand immediately signals for substitution. Matt Doherty to come on

Well in terms of the season to come, what a dreadful first half - Bellegarde and Neto (again) added to the ever grwoing injury problems for GON. What an utter diasappointment for us too.

Half time, and for Wolves it’s all been really about the further injury list, added to by JRB and - sadly on his birthday - Pedro Neto with what looks like another hamstring injury. Tosin went closest to scoring when he hit the bar after a good period of play by F’ham, whilst Wolves have looked comfortably in midfield and put some good attacking combinations together thet have seldom really looked like scoring.
We are now playing with a back five and a ptrched up attack so fingers crossed for the second half!

Ball is gifted to Pablo but he wastes it. Wilson breaks in on our left side but shoots wide. Reed fouks Mario and gets the overdue yellow card. Ball floated across to Toti who takes a step in to the byline snd passes to Ait Nouri who fires it in beautifully with his right foot!!

Nelson set up by Joao and his shot is deflected past Leno for a rare Semedo goal. This followed some amazing play on the left side by Joao. Checking for offside but it is given

Nathan Fraser has put a good shift in but is now tired & replaced by Doc. Palinha takes out RAN as he breaks but gets away with a dangerous challenge. Free kick earns a corner off Bassey. Broja prepared to come on for Castagne. Jose makes a double save

8 added minutes confirmed. Iwobi has often been a bogie man against us forvEveryon and F’ham but he hasn’t presented mucch threat today. Doyle has played well in midfield allowing Mario to play further forward but he now shoots high & wide

Traore puts a cross over but Palinha heads high iver the bar. Now Wolves playing a possession gamevrather than tryingto dcore, but then Mario latches on to a great pass from RAN, but shoots wide sadly as he deserves a goal.

Into final minute and we look like picking up another three points, but then Iwobi proves me right and flicks the ball past Jose Sa!!!! Checked & given by VAR. final whistle goes and it finishes with a 13th win for Wolves on the day they celebrate the 50th anniversary of winning the League Cup. Such a hard day’s work for our players after all the injury issues, but GON restructured the team well and they played very well with a patched up team.

What is it about Wolves and injuries, and nearly all to forwards? Any win's a good one but under the circumstances, this one particularly so. No-one played poorly. Sa made some great saves and Toti did well when he came on, did well for Ait-Nouri's goal, but Lemina and Ait-Nouri were particularly good, especially as the were playing farther forward than they normally would. How Palinha stayed on the pitch is a mystery, the stamp on Ait-Nouri was worse than the foul he got booked for.
