Cheshire Wolf

I am so incredibly sad to inform you all that Cheshire Wolf died on Friday after his long battle with cancer.

Steve, better known on the Molineux Way as ‘Chesh’, was a truly fantastic human being. He was moderator on here for many years and it was my privilege to help him out where and when I could. Steve loved the Wolves. His knowledge of football and all things Wolverhampton Wanderers was impressive as was his opinion. His judgement was based on his very own insightful, thoughtful and pragmatic approach and I know he really enjoyed the banter on here, even when others had a differing outlook on subjects …. Such is the nature of a fan’s website! You will all have your memories of ‘Chesh’. For me, he used his personal qualities for the benefit of this website and moderated with great style.

Those who read the Molineux Way will know ‘Chesh’ has had a long battle with illness which he wrote about in a very open way. As someone who knew him, he was an inspiration to me in the way he dealt with matters – he was determined to get the very best out of life, making the most and creating lasting memories with his beloved family, something which he succeeded with so well until so very recently.

‘Chesh’ will be sorely missed. We forged a great friendship over the years, we met, drank, exchanged stories, went to the match …. We supported the Wolves together.

To his family, on behalf of the Molineux Way, Kath I wish to send love to you.

To Steve, rest in peace – and Up The Wolves!

Paul, Ivybridge Wolf.

Very upsetting news. I exchanged many pm's with Steve and although I never had the privilege of meeting him he always seemed to be a 100% decent bloke. No disrespect to anyone intended but this board will be the poorer without him. RIP Steve and God bless you.

Very sad news, although we had numerous differences on a football level, I never held animosity or ill will towards Cheshire and think we both for the most part had mutual respect for the 15 years or so we knew each other on here. Best wishes to his family if they are reading this thread. Although fairly inconsequential in the wide scheme of things, it was quite fitting that Cheshire won the prediction league as most years it was both of us in the leading positions vying for top spot and he got last laugh by winning what will probably be the last ever league on here.

Going forward, I'm not sure the board has the numbers to survive so if the site isn't here next season or I'm not here, all the best wishes for the few that still remain. The last few years have been hard going, but have good memories of this site in the McCathy era with the old posters. Maybe it is a good time to call it a day, but will leave it to others to make the decision.

My intention is to start another thread about the Mol Way in the coming days and keep things separate.

Very sad news. Thanks for letting us know, Ivy.

With hindsight his messages on here over the last months were quite remarkable in relation to what he must have been going through.

Steve clearly was a top bloke to know personally, Paul. My sympathies to you and of course to his loved ones.

John.

Only seen these messages today as I tend to go into hibernation after the final game of the season and awake just before the season starts.
That's awful news about Cheshire, I'm really sad to read this news today, my thoughts go out to his friends and family and you ivy as I know you had a close bond with him.
Cancer is an awful disease, I lost my dad to it 14 years ago now.
He was was a big wolves supporter to and he took me to my first game down the mol when I was 5, I'm now 58 and wolves are in my blood for life through thick and thin.
It's not quite felt the same watching wolves without my Dad, and I don't think this site will ever feel the same without Steve's posts and dedication to the site, but I'm sure he has left it in great hands with ivy.
God bless you sir, thank you for all you're efforts on this site, you will be badly missed and may you rest in peace.
