A message about The Molineux Way

Dear all, I hope you are all enjoying England, if enjoyment is the word, though as I write (pre-final Group match v Slovenia) it is now confirmed we have qualified into the last 16 and just a question of who we play!!

Onto matters. I must be honest, I have found this message difficult to compose after the loss of Chesh, nonetheless here goes.

Chesh and I discussed the board quite a bit, including just prior to his last thread. My intention has always been to continue with the board and that is what I would like to do. Naturally, this is a fans forum, and as such can only continue with the ongoing support and contribution of those who keep posting and reading.

A couple of thoughts and issues.

As Chesh mentioned, it would be great if someone might consider helping to moderate alongside me, to assist with things. I say moderate, it’s more administration to keep the show on the road! I must say it’s not nearly as onerous as I thought when I started off and full training will be provided!! If you think this is something you could help with, either let me know in the thread below or send me a private message. We can arrange to have a chat if needs be, prior to committing.

Secondly, Chesh ‘trained me up’ to operate the prediction league. This is the one thing I never previously got involved with, however as you will appreciate, it’s something I would be delighted to continue. By the way, I understand the points and goal difference system in place is fixed by SportsNetwork, so it will continue in the same format. In the usual way, please can I have a show of hands of who would like to take part for 2024/2025. Much appreciated!!

That’s it for now, thanks for reading, please let me have your thoughts and feedback.

All the best, UTW

Paul, Ivybridge Wolf.

Thanks Ivy,
It would be great to see the site continue even with the low number of contributors. The prediction league is always a bit of fun so count me in.

Despite the low numbers this is still a great place for Wolves fans to go, and I would very much like it to continue.
I had pledged this coming season after numerous dismal efforts, to let others do the prediction league. However, with the sad passing of Cheshire I will do it once more despite your continued (and well-earned) ridicule.

My posts are as rare as hen's teeth, but I would like to still have this place available for the matchday intros and comments, to gnash my teeth from time to time.

I don't think I can be of much help with the admin because I'm not around enough, so I hope a better candidate can step into the role.

I joined the board when I was 29 years old, a season ticket holder and full of energy determined to argue my case with all sorts of issues from McCarthy to Morgan, to the cat 1 academy rubbish to worzel ( keogh) etc. I'm 46 soon and simply don't have any interest in Wolves or football any more. A bit of a problem on a football forum, but wish everyone all the best with it. Ivy is a decent mod, probably the only person I haven't argued with in the last 17 years (Sm6)

I hope the forum keeps going purely for nostalgia sake as I have over 15 thousand posts on here. This is my 3rd profile, the other one was closed for threatening to murder SPRH in 2012 and the replacement I forgot the password to.

I may drop in from time to time, but not sure what I can offer the forum as I don't watch the sport any longer

Just to add, quite apt timing - after posting the above post I tuned in to ITV to see what was on and it is Germany vs Denmark in the Euros. Denmark score a great goal and there is a pause for 3 minutes with lines going across screens etc, people standing around and the goal is disallowed. All the passion is lost from celebrating, then 2 minutes later a ball is blasted at a Danish player's arm from 2 yards, Germany get a penalty in a game they should be trailing in.

The sport is absolute garbage and couldn't stand another season of watching it tbh. I absolutely hate football and wouldn't watch it if I was living next to Molineux with free access. Turning it off to watch netflix or something - just 5 minutes reminded me what a turdfest 2024 football is

We’ll call that a ‘Maybe’ then 😎

Thanks for your comments - I wanted to leave it a while and I've also been away, however I'm back now.

As said, I intend to keep the site going. Looking at Angry's entry and in nostalgic mode, I am reminded that I first posted here just after a rather diasppointing season opener on 6th August 2005 at Southampton. I was there and it ended 0-0. I was 37 at the time and there was more interest off the pitch as the England Cricket team were in the process of coming back to snatch a famous 2 run win at Edgbaston in 'that' Ashes series!!

Anyway, I am in the process of setting up the fixtures for the 2024/25 prediction league and so I hope as many as possible will enter - newcombers and exisiting contributors all welcome. I'll set up a sepatare thread for it shortly.

I see we have friendlies organised in late July v West Ham and Palace, then in early August, at Molineux v RB Leipzig and Rayo Vallecano. I dream of a return of pre-season friendlies away to the likes of Plymouth, Brsitol City, Shrewsbury and the like but those days are over it seems!

Anyway in the meantime, have a great summer and for those who take an interest, like me, good luck to England v Holland this coming Wednesday in the Euro's semi final. We've ridden our luck for sure, but I'm keeping everything crossed. The number of Wolves supporting England flags in the grounds have been both ever present and impressive.

Cmon England and UTW!!

\whilst there is plenty of time, as an update we have encountered a technical hitch on the prediction league, thus not updated yet! Hopefully sorted soon.

Good luck ivy only seen the very sad news about Steve today, it won't be the same on here without his posts and efforts keeping this site going but I think he has left it in good hands.
It's a shame that this site does not get more posters but maybe with the site having only a few posters it has more of a family feel to it, that's what I think anyway.
All the best ivy👍

Thank you for continuing with this - it's a legacy to Cheshire after all he did to keep it going. I don't come on to comment very often but I read what people write. We are in the north so I don't get to matches but my son and grandson manage to attend a few.

Best wishes to everyone for the season!
