Match Thread: Newcastle United v Wolves 3pm KO 13.09.25

The scene is set for this clash at St James Park between two sides who have yet to win this season, The Magpies with two draws and a defeat, and Wolves three straight defeats. Will this winless streak change tomorrow, the odds are certainly in favour of Newcastle who are hot favourites for this encounter with Wolves not having been victorious versus them in four years with the last league win in Newcastle in 2018? Can Wolves provide the upset needed to get the points total moving upwards?
Perhaps we should already have a point with PGMOL retrospectively saying Wolves should have been awarded a penalty for Iliman Ndiaye's foul on Hugo Bueno in our Everton home defeat. Obviously we have been here before and it’s so frustrating, nevertheless on this occasion, for this Wolves fan at least, the performance of the team that day did not warrant even a point, such was Everton’s superiority.
The bad news for this fixture is that once again, Strand Larsen is not fit and will miss the match. Pereira indicating his injury was more serious than first thought and that he isn’t training at the moment which likely means that Hwang will be in the hot seat. Hoping his lovely finish versus Everton will infuse a bit of confidence into his performance, he needs to make things happen a bit more for me. Will Arokodare get on the pitch? It’s not all about those up front though, Wolves really need to be far more creative in midfield and forward thinking, with speed of foot and intelligence on the ball. At times versus Everton we were turgid and slow in our approach play.
Vitor really has to sort out the defending, great to score twice however if you concede three in any match it’s an uphill struggle. There is no doubt we have regressed in this area with continued very basic errors at the back causing ourselves all sorts of problems ….. directly resulting in goals too. Toti and Agbadou were well below par last time out, and it’s become more than a trend. Not sure Toti is captain material either, but that’s another story!
In spite of the probability, good luck to the boys tomorrow afternoon to generate the positivity we all need and to avoid remaining on a zero points return. Of course, it will be tough.
I am unable to follow the match at all tomorrow, hence this thread being posted on Friday evening, however you views and comments on our prospects and your post match digestion and critique is always appreciated!!
C’mon me babbies, mek us proud!!

What happened to the other 85 minutes?
As soon as Newcastle scored we lost all belief.
We are absolutely clueless in front of goal without larsen.
It's not looking good, massive game against Leeds next week now.
Vitor coming in for some criticism with some fans tonight but we all know the problems are down to shi and fosun.
Feel sorry for vitor it's going to end one way for him if we don't start picking up results all because fosun have let him and the fans down again.
Shi will want a scapegoat to take the heat off him.
Lose next week and we have one foot through the trap door.
Depressing times.
On that basis it’s good to read some positives in terms of individual players as well as those who didn’t spark.
Even so, four matches, four defeats. That is pretty grim.
Can we beat Leeds? I bl00dy hope so.
