Wolves go into tonight’s 4th round League Cup fixture unbeaten! Yes, Wolves are riding high having already dispatched two premier league opponents in this competition and now hungry for their third victim. Riding high in a parallel universe that is?!
The scenes after the miserable home defeat to Burnley last Sunday weren’t great. It could be argued that Wanderers were unlucky to lose the match on the day, to be honest I am sympathetic to that opinion, but the stark reality is that it was another major defeat in a line of too many to mention. Wolves have now lost to all three promoted premier league sides on top of all the other disappointments this season and the end of last. Anyway, emotions and tempers were frayed at full time, and all corners of the club should be in no doubt that we are a club in crisis. As a strategy, Fosun selling and praying new recruits every transfer window will lead to good fortunes on the pitch is not a formula to settle and thrive. At least not at Wolves.
So, it’s the League Cup tonight for some light relief, if that is possible. The match kicks off at Molineux at 7.45pm versus Chelsea who have a few form inconsistencies of late, losing at Stamford Bridge to Sunderland on Saturday. though scoring goals isn’t one of their weaknesses.
Both team selections will come under scrutiny this evening, the League Cup noted for experimental sides, though to be fair Vitor, he hasn’t deviated too far from league line ups. I hope that Hugo Bueno, Rodrigo and Bellegarde are rewarded for their efforts and get into the starting 11 this evening. Irrespective of who is picked, Chelsea are strong favourites for this tie at odds of 5/6 and Wolves 100/30.
The cup might be a distraction, however it is a means of trying to muster something positive which could be used and taken forward into the Fulham match on Saturday, another absolutely crucial game awaiting Wolves.
Let’s see what happens, I’ll be watching (the match is being televised on Sky Sports Plus) and hoping against hope that we see something which does not add to the justifiable despair many fans feel at the moment. As another measure of discontent, all eyes on the gate tonight, Molineux dipped under 30,000 for the last two premier league games and 18,758 and 19,561 attended respectively for the league cup matches versus West Ham and Everton.

Having said what I did in the intro, Vitor has made 11 changes!! Chelsea 10.
Wolves XI: Sa, Tchatchoua, Doherty, Mosquera, Agbadou, Toti, Wolfe, Gomes, Lopez, Hwang, Arokodare.
Subs: Bentley, Bueno, Munetsi, R.Gomes, Chirewa, Bellegarde, Mane, Krejci, Strand Larsen.

As for the league cup itself, whilst it is almost certain we won’t get beyond this or at a stretch the next round, it is still only one of two domestic trophies we can win. The joy of the Toon winning was immense. I’d love a bit of that, irrespective of what sides any given manager or betting company thinks!!
And I still remember 74 and 80!
Match underway, 5 gone and it’s 0-1

0-2

Hwang had a good chance just now after a decent free kick but body shape all wrong and blazed over

Even more pathetic defending and it’s 0-3.
Lopes makes a tragic error in possession after a tight pass from Sa, so easy for Chelsea
Embarrassing

I think you secretly love this competition Angry, fine line between love and hate and you protest too much methinks!
Hwang had a good chance just now after a decent free kick but body shape all wrong and blazed over
Wolves fans cheering a sequence of Wolves passes., ironically of course.
3 minutes of added time is over, Some boos at the whistle, but all seems half hearted after that energy sapping, soporific Wolves effort.
So poor

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools: If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’ If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son! " 4-4 fcking 2
45 more minutes pass and the FT whistle goes - we are in the 4th round winning 1-0. Keep the faith

It's like slow torture watching this shambles.
Fosun hang your head in shame what you have done to this club.
I've been supporting this club for over 50 years and this is up there with the worst football I've seen down the molineux.
Vitor got to go now his team selection again is just baffling.
Krejci on for Rodrigo and Munetsi for Lopes at HT

Larsen on for Hwang

The resistance is over.
Forget that Wolves 3-4!! Another goal from Wolfe
Cmon!!

Another good match for the neutral but the same story, Wolves lose.
Molineux chanting in appreciation and the players are responding accordingly. They at least gave it a go and got stuck in.

Spirited 2nd half performance but to little to late, absolutely woeful 1st half.
Yet another defeat, they just keep on coming☹️
