Match Thread: Liverpool v Wolves KO 3pm 27.12.25

There will be a tribute to Diogo Jota and his family at Anfield today to celebrate and remember one of our finest players seen in an Old Gold shirt, subsequently transferred to Liverpool. I hope it goes well with good wishes to his family.

Wolves will be, as ever, the massive outsiders and following the Brentford match it is difficult to raise a realistic argument to expect even a point, nevertheless if we can play as at Arsenal, perhaps there is a little hope.

The team has been announced as follows:

Wolves XI: Sa; Mosquera, Krejci; Bueno; Doherty, Gomes, Andre, Bueno; Mane, Hwang Hee-Chan; Arokodare

Subs: Johnstone, Wolfe, Strand Larsen, Arias, Hoever, Lopez, Gonzalez, Tchatchoua, Rawlings

Fingers crossed!

I hope everyone has had a lovely and peaceful christmas.

Up The Wolves!

I fear this will be too tough a match for us to get anything out of it.
Another defeat looms large I'm afraid.

Thanks for those words of wisdom Lupy. FGS it's Christmas so how about a festive singalong - we could be worse off, and have 0 points like a team currently in the Maltese non league.

A little variation of Stevey Bull's a tatter

" Rob Edwards is a tatter,
He wears a wanderer cap,
He manages for Wolverhapmpton
He is a lovely chap
The opposition score with their left foot,
They score with their right
and when we play the Shrews, they will SCORE ALL FCKING NIGHT

I’ve followed the first half, barely created a thing, a couple of promising Mane moves maybe, though otherwise a toothless half.
Liverpool have been totally on top, but at least they had to work for the first goal, the second was a masterclass of the central defence opening up like the Red Sea.

I’ve had enough today, I can’t be bothered with the second half, I’ll watch the rest on MOTD.

I see you summoned the spirit of Leonard Cohen to pen your little ditty.
Sadly no Hallelujah moment for the traveling Wanderers.

I believe that is now the longest winless start to a Premier League season, although it's gone on so long it's not really a start anymore. First half not too impressive and, as Ivy said, the defence was split wide open for the second goal. Better in the second half. Mane certainly looks confident enough and not afraid to try things but sometimes probably had better options than what he tried. Better performances from Andre and Gomes but finding things to be positive about is difficult.

2-1 Wolves show some fight in the second half at least.

We are on course for 4 points using a PPg ratio. If we can make 5, by May, it would show signs of improvement. A single win for Rob is required for a new long term contract but can he get it?

Of course if he doesn't get the contract extension, Fosun will be on the lookout for a new manager

Oh, and Rui Silva has only been back for two weeks and this was the second time he has been booked. At least he's showing some passion I suppose.

Thought we played ok, sloppy 2 goals given away though.
Showed a bit more fight 2nd half but its yet another defeat from this clueless lot.
Zero creativity yet again.
Mane was the bright spot for me gave his all and had a couple of decent chances.
Never noticed chan was on the pitch again.
I'm flabbergasted how this waste of space keeps getting picked!

The big day is Shewsbury on the 10th January. Rob will take his defeat shaken but not stirred - this time by pen shootout https://i.postimg.cc/G2YCgwx7/rob3.png
