Match thread: Wolves v Villa 27.02.26 KO 8pm

The claret and blue of Brummagum make the short trip to Molineux today experiencing a bit of inconsistent form (W2 D2 L2 in their last six) and whilst still third in the table, it has put pay to any conversations of keeping pace with the Gunners or Man City. For Wolves it is a simpler theme, rooted to the bottom and another defeat at Palace last weekend.

An incredibly disappointing result at Selhurst Park, a real giveaway in a match Wolves never should have lost, but a mixture of inability to create clear cut chances, a questionable red card and awful finishing gave all three points to our opponents.

.... and so it is Wolves v Villa, this seasons local rivals, we will have more next season, particularly if Albion avoid the drop!

With an 8pm kick off and being screened live under the Molineux lights, this is the start of the premier league fixtures this weekend.

Enjoy the match everyone, if at all possible, apologies for the short intro, a day trip to the hospital has truncated my footballing thoughts today!

Even first half and Armstrong really did a great job.
1-0 early into 2nd half and really scrappy later. Second goal in 97th min while Villa were chucking everything at it. Wow!
We now beat Derby’s ‘worst ever’. Cheered me up after a nervy finish

Fine victory, tenacity and fight. Not pretty at times, particularly first half but full credit for the way Wolves played in that second half. A thoroughly deserved win and a nervy wait towards the end, every player playing the defend that 1-0 lead …… and then of course the Rodrigo goal was the icing on the Villa capitulating cake.

Two very good finishes too.

I agree Chicago, I also thought Armstrong played very well , he’s got a very decent touch and works so hard when off the ball. The side left him isolated in the first half but got him more involved in the second, looks like a great addition for next season.

…. And yes, Derby looking up at us is a consolation ….. what is the next? Sunderland?

Great performance, terrific versus the Villa too.

Well us wolves fans haven't had much joy this season so let's enjoy that win.
Great battling performance tonight and think we got the win we deserved.
Always nice to beat the Deluded Villa.
Got soaked tonight but I dont care, im singing in the Rain tonight.
Just a shame this effort from the team wasn't shown earlier in the season and we wouldn't be in this mess.

Didn't see that coming. Well deserved on the night. Agree about Armstrong on that evidence and much more like it from Andre and J.Gomes, pity they haven't been playing like that all season. Santiago is really beginning to look quite solid at the back and, considering it was his first match back for about three months, Toti played well although I would still select Krejci when available. Always good to put one over on Villa.
