Match Thread: Leeds United v Wolves 3pm KO 18.04.2026

At last, here we are, after all the talk we have game where results should go the wrong way, Wolves could be relegated today. To be honest, many of us thought this day would have come and gone by now, but it hasn’t. Small mercies. Still, an away win and Wanderers will soldier on another week to the massive relegation showdown next week at Molineux, Spurs are coming to the Black Country! Should Leeds get the full three points today, that is likely to be enough for their survival for another season, so they have a great incentive and in front of their own fans.

After last week’s second half capitulation, Wolves need to put on a better showing. After a decent first half, the embarrassing second 45 just about summed up the 2025/26 season. Galling to watch. Another blank to add to the previous 15 blanks this term, simply not good enough. Talking of blanks, Leeds have not scored in 4 of their last 5 home premier league games, so perhaps there is hope for Wolves. In reality, Leeds are just off the back of a terrific away win at Old Trafford last Monday night, their first win there since 1981. Leeds must be buoyant! For those who need a reminder, Leeds beat us 3-1 at Molineux earlier in the season and that is after we took the lead, a lovely Krejci goal.

So, will it happen? Is this the day the championship is to be confirmed? There were so many poor performances versus West Ham and the substitutions on the night seemed to make matters worse. Can Rob Edwards instill a bit of confidence and desire? Edwards has repeated that Johnstone is out and The Doc featuring remains undecided, but the rest of the squad are fit. Apparently, Wolves have scored in each of their last 11 matches at Elland Road, so maybe we do have some hope. It would be great to see Armstrong back on the scoresheet, although he was guilty of a big miss last week when the score was still 0-0. He’ll be a useful asset in the championship.

With relegation on the horizon, other factors of interest come into play, Burnley are away to Forest on Sunday (can we catch them), Spurs are at home to Brighton at 5.30pm (can they join us …. Hope so!!), Albion are away to Preston (will we play them next year) and for me, Argyle are away to Wimbledon (can they go up … a nice local ground to see the Wolves!). All these permutations.

It’s a traditional 3pm kick off this afternoon and whatever the scoreline, and I keep saying it, let’s hope it’s a bit more like v Arsenal and Brentford than West Ham. Enjoy the match … if possible.

All the best and please leave your comments and thoughts in the thread below.

UTW!

Have to hope for a win despite our situation. A victory would give the supporters something in what has been a tortuous season of failures both on and off the pitch.
Squad selection, as always, will be interesting with RE possibly looking to give more time to the youngsters in anticipation of next season.

Three Gomes’s and all Bueno’s present and correct. Bentley gets a rare start too, Brooks on the bench.

It’s a bit of a lacklustre effort so far, still 0-0 so far. Wolves supporters in fine voice. The Leeds corner count is rising, and there we have it, Leeds 1-0 Wolves. It’s very much been coming to be honest.

West Ham all over again, in a moment it’s 2-0. Poor and literally down in a whimper.

Armstrong at least has had a few efforts.

Micky Burrows and Thommo are slating this Wolves side on their poor efforts up to now

We are second best all over. Sounds like a stinker of an effort.

Albion winning at HT, looks like we’ll be playing them next season.

Lima on for the lifeless Tchatchoua at HF.

Mane replaced Angel late in the first half due to injury.

Another match where we’re flogging the ‘teal’ away shirt rather than the Old Gold.

Darlo has made a terrific save from Krejci after a corner. Very nearly one back.

A flat second half with Calvert Lewin putting a penalty away.

FT Leeds 3-0 Wolves. Some Wolves fans expressing their displeasure to the players. Painful.

The maximum total we can now get is 32 (lucky if we get over 20) so If Spurs win this evening and West Ham don’t lose at Palace, it’s all over …… officially that is!

We all know that realistically we were relegated weeks ago. Another grim display and we've got what we deserve. Never a penalty but so what?

Well that's another 90 minutes of my life I will never get back watching this pathetic lot.
Really sad watching this team when you compare it to the great Nuno teams.
Saying that it was the wrong starting line up yet again for me, jackson for one should never put a wolves shirt on again but for some reason Edwards sticks with him, I thought Lima looked a lot better than him when he came on.
Mane the best player for us today, at least he put some effort in.
A lot of work to do in the summer to rebuild this team and im not sure Edwards is the man for me.
Fosun Out they have Broke me with what they have done to our club and ive had enough, they need to go but I dont think it will happen.
They sold us a Dream and then Crushed it.

Out of Darkness Cometh Light? Certainly hope so; this was pretty dark stuff. A seeming inability to pass the ball, no offensive push; completely lackluster. We’ve shipped seven goals without response against what were billed as two relegation rivals.
Fosun must be warming their hands over the smoldering ashes of the bonfire. Their demolition job complete.
Playing for pride? Oh dear; a few weeks back my fear was that any last talent we might display would be scooped up, denuding us further. That concern is over; we now face the risk of a Terry Connor like end to the season, followed by a quick slide straight through into Div 1 with the squad intact like the f—-fest inherited by Kenny Jacket.
Thank you to Krecji and Armstrong for trying.

I went to the Vertu cup final at Wembley last weekend (Sherpa Van Trophy to us), Luton v Stockport collectively eclipsed our quality, purpose and desire we’ve managed in the last two matches plus many more this season. We’d struggle against them two sides at the moment 😥

Long way back for fosun to win the Supporters trust back after this shambles of a season.
FOSUN OUT! I won't forgive them for what they have done to this club and I think most fans will feel the same.

It’s been a slow but consistently escalating car crash overviewed and managed by the ineffective Fosun. We all knew it was happening, season by season getting worse and today Fosun reap the outcome of the rotten seeds they have sown.

No idea what the next step is.

Empty; and angry. Don’t care what happens over next five games (although like some sad sack I’ll likely watch).
One thing I know is that some of these players should never be allowed in a Wolves shirt again . Jackson Tch, Hwang , Toti, Tolu for starters. Contracts? These f…ers should be in court for breach of contract

Cheer up as things have picked up under Rob. 3 wins in 22 premier league games and 3 relegations in the last 3 seasons points to confidence for next season. On top of all that, he's a nice guy don't you know

Thanks Angry, I must confess that occasionally I find your posts a teeny bit negative. But this one has a couple of bright spots; I had almost forgotten that we did win three games, and yes, Rob does appear to be a nice guy, so that he will likely go quietly at the end of September when he is kicked out as we slide toward Div 1.
