A 92'nd Sami Hyypia header was enough to earn Liverpool an un-deserved victory at a wind-swept Anfield Stadium earlier today.
As predicted in the preview, Wolves did not win away. However, how Liverpool earned all three points is something Dave Jones, Stuart Gray and Terry Connor will have to study between now and next week's second consecutive tester at Chelsea.
Liverpool left it until the 92nd minute to win the game - but it is to Wolves credit, determination and bottle that it took so long for the star-studded Red's side to break the deadlock.
Wolves were again backed by a superb and vocal 3,000 Barmy Army and credit must go to Dave Jones who made a couple of changes from the side which lost at home to Aston Villa last week.
Mark Clyde replaced Denis Irwin at right-back whilst Kenny Miller replaced £2m January signing Carl Cort.
Wolves played in the similar and determined style which has earned them so many compliments this season. It was a battling performance, lead by Paul Ince and Miller, Camara and man of the match Vio Ganea.
Jody Craddock was lucky not to have a penalty awarded against him early on - As Emile Hesky ran through on goal following a poor clearance from the former Sunderland man, Craddock raced back and 'won' the ball as Hesky was about to let fire with just Paul Jones to beat. However, referee Rob Styles waved play-on, to the fury of all associated with Liverpool - only a TV replay will confirm whether Craddock got the vital touch.
Miller and Camara both came close either side of the break and Ganea was unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when he was tugged back by the eventual match winner Hyypia mid-way through the second half.
Dudek made one fabulous save from Henri Camara - the shot was probably Camara's greatest ever in a Wolves shirt, but the real drama was saved until the last few seconds.
A corner was swung-in by Gerrard and Sami Hyypia rose the highest to head the ball past Jones in the Wolves goal.
In fairness neither team deserved to win the game, but the performance and pride the lads showed yet again just puts last week's pathetic humiliation into prospective.
