WOLVES HAVE delayed the inevitable with
a superb 2-0 victory over Carling Cup winners Middlesbrough at Molineux with
Henri Camara again on the score sheet.
The game was all about delaying the
inevitable and Wolves did that with a good performance against Carling Cup
Winners Middlesbrough at Molineux on Saturday.
Wolves are not down mathematically but the
chances of the Old Gold performing the greatest escape in History is
realistically only a pipe dream, but this win holds off relegation for a week at
least.
It was a performance full of courage. The
players have been knocked time and time again but once more they brushed
themselves down and played some nice football to see off 'Boro - they even had
the luxury of missing a penalty late on.
Paul Jones was backed by the Wolves crowd
from the off following Dave Jones' pleas and it worked wonders as the former
Saints shot-stopper pulled off some fabulous saves. However it was Henri Camara
who once again stole the headlines.
The man from Senegal showed pace, skill
desire and commitment once more and rounded his performance off with a super
over-head style goal
The partnership the 26 year old is making
with Carl Cort was another bright spark in a game which saw Danny Mills booed
every time he touched the ball for his antics at the Riverside earlier in the
season.
Mark Clyde started ahead of Irwin and it
was Clyde who played the long ball over to Carl Cort who powered a header past
the Boro keeper to open the scoring.
Mid-Way through the second half Wolves
wrapped the game up. A Naylor throw was flicked on by Cort who found the
impressive Camara who turned and shot on the volley past Shwarzer from 15 yards.
The new son of Molineux Henri Camara also
missed a penalty late on following a foul on Substitute Rae, but nobody was
going to give a damn - the points were already in the bag.
