Wolves Ease Past Burnley - Match Report

WOLVERHAMPTON Wanderers easily disposed of Burnley at Molineux on Tuesday to make it just one defeat is sixteen games under new boss Glenn Hoddle.

Paul Ince and Kenny Miller scored the goal in what was a comfortable night for Glenn Hoddle's men. Goalkeeper Michael Oakes failed to be tested once, whilst Wolves could and possibly should have at least doubled their lead.

The win means Wolves move within seven points of the play-offs. Seven points is very difficult to make up and will probably be too big of a margin, but Hoddle can't help but think of all the points Wolves have dropped.

"The other results seem to have gone for us, so I keep thinking about all the games - like Derby - that we should have won and where that would have put us. I don't think I'll get any sleep when I think of the points we let slip through our hands." admitted the Wolves boss after the game.

Hoddle named an unchanged side from the side which drew with Preston at the weekend and it was Kenny Miller who gave the wolves the lead shortly before half-time.

Miller picked up a loose ball in the box and guided his shot past Jensen into the net on the 38th minute mark.

The home side continued to create chances after the goal and Paul Ince's 22 yard strike which flew past Jensen into the net on 60 minutes was nothing less than Wolves deserved.

McGreal was sent off for the visitors when he took down the impressive Lee Naylor in the last minute of the game. The game was already over when Ince blazed over the resulting free-kick, but the light at the end of the tunnel Wolves have been stuck in all season is getting every brighter.
