Player fans want to buy "honoured" at gesture

THE Icelandic International who Wolves Fans looked to buy with their hard earned cash has today said that he is honoured with the gesture Wolves fans could be about to make.

With time ticking away it is looking more and more unlikely that the plan for Wolves fans to buy Icelandic International Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson will get the go ahead this month.

A meeting between the fans has been called as a long-term plan is looked to be built. Interest from Wolves fans in making a piece of Football History has been phenomenal and it's looking likely that something will be put to the Wolves board soon with a plan to possibly swoop for the player in the summer, rather than this January transfer window

News of the proposed signing is massive in both Iceland and Sweden (where the player is currently playing his football) and the player himself today said he was "honoured" that Wolves fans would be prepared to dig deep to secure his signature but said he would be worried about the pressure he's be under to perform.

Speaking to the national Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladidi, the 23 year old said "I think this is a great idea but I doubt it will happen.

But if it did, it would be a tremendous honour to be “bought” by the supporters but also very difficult because of the expectations on my shoulders. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.”

Fans on Saturday said it would be a nice idea to dig deep to make football History, with Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey saying he would welcome any kind of gesture by the fans. It would be the first time in English Football that a group of fans will have ever bought a player for their club, but a January move for the prolific Icelandic International looks out of the question.
