Villa to swoop for £1M Cort - Reports

ASTON Villa are lining up a £1M swoop for Wolves Striker Carl Cort according to reports which surfaced this afternoon. Villa boss O'Leary was at Molineux on Saturday to watch the 28 year old.

It had been reported both locally and nationally over the past few days that the Villa boss was present at Molineux to watch highly rated centre half Joleon Lescott at the 2-2 draw with Coventry City on Saturday, however reports on the back page of tonight's express and star say differently.

The Wolverhampton based newspaper runs the headline "Villa Cort-ing Molineux Man" and claims that the Aston Villa boss was at Molineux to watch Cort - who was ironically dropped to the bench for the game.

The paper quotes O'Leary as recently saying he wants a powerful striker to play along side Milan Baros and the article goes on to say the newspapers sources inside Villa Park suggest the Premiership club are ready to launch a £1M bid for the player who cost Wolves £2M back in January 2004. The paper also adds that the sources state that no bid will be made for Lescott by Villa in the summer.

The striker started this current season well scoring nine times in the opening eleven games but following an injury he was forced to sit the majority of the season on the sidelines and has scored just two goals since.

MEANWHILE the Newspaper has published results off their latest text-poll. They recently asked Wolves Fans to text in the name of the man they believed could take Wolves forward following another poor season. The results were heavily in favour of current skipper Paul Ince (with 34.5% of the vote) whilst current boss Glenn Hoddle was the second most popular choice with 12.1%
