Top American sides target released Anderton

WOLVES Midfielder Darren Anderton is in talks with American teams DC United and the New York Red Bulls. The Championships very own Southampton are also showing an interest in the former Spurs man.

The 34 year old former England International is part of the Molineux cull this summer. With the team unable to reach the play offs it has left Wolves with no choice but to release the majority of the out of contract players, with Darren Anderton being one of them.

Stefan Postma, Vio Ganea and Maurice Ross have also been released but it's Anderton who could be the first to sign a contract elsewhere.

The News Of The World today reports that Anderton is in talks with top American sides DC United and the New York Red Bulls. It's also rumoured that Southampton - where Anderon was brought up as a youngster - are also keeping tabs on the former Spurs man.

Anderton joined Wolves from Birmingham at the start of the season and made just 20 starts, scoring two goals.

The newspaper also links top Spanish side Seville with a £4.5M for defender Joleon Lescott. Despite still having two years remaining on his contract at Wolves the defender could become part of the Molineux Cull as Wolves officials cash in. Mark Kennedy, Denes Rosa, Paul Ince and Colin Cameron have all been offered new contracts on dramatically reduced wages.
