Ince and Gray throw their names into the hat

WOLVES Skipper Paul Ince is almost certain to apply for the vacant managers position at Molineux following the resignation of Glenn Hoddle over the weekend.

The Wolves board of directors are on the hunt for a new manager after the shock decision by Glenn Hoddle to resign as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers with immediate effect on Saturday afternoon.

Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey was due to meet with Hoddle to discuss the particulars of the decision, but the meeting had to be postponed after Hoddle contacted the club with a "family matter" the reason for the postponement.

Many Wolves fans now believe it's time to step into the world of the unknown. Unproven Managers are the fashionable forward with Paul Simpson, Billy Davies and Ade Bothroyd setting the example and now Paul Ince hopes to be the next man to step into the unknown.

The former England captain - who has now spent longer at Molineux than any of his previous clubs - has wasted no time in declaring his interest in the job.

Steve Kutner, the long time agent of Paul Ince revealed earlier "Paul would be interested in succeeding Hoddle."

"Paul would be honoured to be considered as the club's new boss. He's taking his UEFA coaching badges and definitely wants the job."

However Ince is not the only man to throw his name into the ring early on, current assistant Stuart Gray has also admitted he would love the challenge and believes he could be the man to take the club forward.
