Ode to the Indian Fan

A long-cherished win to start off the Test series against South Africa on the right note gets the India faithfuls dancing in the aisles.
sure there was talent
sure there was fight
ain't gonna feel right
till you win a Test abroad outright
yes we won in the Windies
though now they make noone shiver in their undies
and yes we won in Ozzieland
but without McWarne we couldn't shut up all
the wins were sweet
but it just wasn't right
they always flattered to deceive
tearin your hair and losin your sleep
you wondered why, you wondered how
why we follow these losers in tow
deep in your heart you couldn't let go
the last time we won was eons ago
still we embraced them in our lives
all it led to was lies, lies and more damned lies
twas always one thing or the other
the process or the batting order
there was a time when everyone thought
maybe i should stop or its gonna rip my heart
even when we got SA for eighty four
old timers had a lump in their throat
but win they did and warmed our souls
boy o boy they conquered a lot of old ghouls
there was the Wall and there was the lil Master
and sure enuff back was the Bengal tiger
what they did wasn't such a surprise
the bowlers showed a lot of verve and guise
there was Kumble the ol reliable
and Zaheer the mean sleek one
crazy Sreesanth showed one and all
this boy can bowl, dance and do it all
oh, how we hope this is a new start
ready to forgive and give them our heart
this win was for you and me and all
the indian fan who was there spring, summer and fall
