Dhoni has lost his magic touch as India suffer defeat after defeat.

During his golden run, noone could have imagined that it would end this way.

While Mahendra Dhoni continues to lead India in all 3 forms of the game, it is all but certain that he will be asked to step down as captain in at least one form.

Over the last year, in Tests, T20s and ODIs, India has suffered embarassing losses, both home and away. What was seen as a failure abroad in England and Australia was in fact a more serious systemic issue.

Now that his team has lost a Test series to England in their own backyard - and an England which has had a disappointing 2012 at that - questions are starting to be asked.

Is it the coach Duncan Fletcher, unheard from in the two years he has been coach, and uniformly unsuccessful after the admirable Gary Kirsten returned home?

If that were not enough, India lost the ODI series against Pakistan after cricket ties between the two countries resumed after a long hiatus.

England has been beaten by domestic sides in India, most recently by Delhi, which points to the fact that there may be a team or leadership problem behind all the failures.

Mahendra Dhoni and Duncan Fletcher must be replaced for the good of Indian cricket.
