Dhawal and Mohit In One-Day Squad for Windies Series
By Indian Cricket Fever

The two most expensive bowlers in the ODIs versus Australia have predictably, if somewhat cruelly dropped. Interestingly the mega flop batsman of the series Yuvraj Singh has been retained. It is a batsman's game they do say.The squad for the series is as follows:
- MS Dhoni (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Ambati Rayudu, Amit Mishra, Jaydev Unadkat, Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohit Sharma
- In: Dhawal Kulkarni, Mohit Sharma
- Out: Ishant Sharma, Vinay Kumar
The 30+ run over by Ishant at the death and the leaking of over 100 runs in a single ODI by Vinay cost them their places in the side. However, Yuvraj Singh's 19 runs in 6 ODIs at an average of 4.75 was not deemed poor enough to be axed from the squad. This inspite of the fact that the pitches the matches were played on were batting paradises and a poor bowling effort would be more excusable than a poor batting one.
On the plus side some consistent performances in Domestic cricket by Dhawal Kulkarni and Mohit Sharma have been rightly rewarded.
Another slightly puzzling selection is that of Ravi Jadeja. One thought he had a shoulder injury that required him to sit out the Tests against West Indies, but now he is back in the One-day squad. So his injury must have been more of niggle rather than a serious one, as it only required a couple of weeks rest to be resolved.
In any case the World No. 1 ODI team should have little problem overcoming the Windies in home conditions. One hopes the pitches are a bit more bowler friendly than the Australian series, otherwise with the bowling attack the Windies has, and India's batting scores of 400+ are likely, though only if India bats first.
