England Will Tour India for Full Five Test Series

Not since the 1980s when Sunil Gavaskar and David Gower were captaining their respective sides has England embarked on a full 5 Test tour of India...  Looks like BCCI is one again pushing the nostalgia button.  Good to see Rajkot and Vizag get their first Tests.  Hopefully the cricket fans in those cities will come out in force to support Virat Kohli and his boys.  The ODIs and T20s have thankfully been limited to 3 each... a fair number.  Between top cricket nations this should be the standard format of a tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Friday (July 15) announced the schedule for England’s tour of India for five Tests, three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals, starting on November 9 in Rajkot.

The tour starts with the Test series, which runs till December 20, following which England will head back home for a Christmas break before returning to India to complete the limited-overs leg.

The first two Tests will be played in Rajkot and Visakhapatnam respectively, both venues hosting their first Test matches. Mohali, Mumbai and Chennai will host the next three Tests.

The three ODIs will be played in Pune (January 15), Cuttack (January 19) and Kolkata (January 22) as day-night games. The tour concludes with the three T20Is in Kanpur, Nagpur and Bangalore between January 26 and February 1.

The series is part of a long home season for India where they play 13 Tests, eight ODIs and three T20Is. The BCCI had previously announced six new Test venues – Indore, Rajkot, Visakhapatnam, Dharamsala, Ranchi and Pune – for the season that starts with the Test series against New Zealand.

Full schedule:

November 9-13: I Test (Rajkot)
November 17-21: II Test (Visakhapatnam)
November 26-30: III Test (Mohali)
December 8-12: IV Test (Mumbai)
December 16-20: V Test (Chennai)

January 15: I ODI (Pune)
January 19: II ODI (Cuttack)
January 22: III ODI (Kolkata)

January 26: I T20I (Kanpur)
January 29: II T20I (Nagpur)
February 1: III T20I (Bangalore)

Good policy to distribute Test to new centers...as long as the pitch and conditions are good enough...

Tremendous series Win for India... who despite losing 4 out of 5 Tosses won 4 out of 5 Tests...

After starting a bit shakily in Rajkot where they fought to salvage a draw... India went from strength to strength even as England crumbled...

In the end two back to back Innings wins despite losing toss and the opposition scorind 400 and 477 in their first innings... INCREDIBLE...
