In front of the SKY TV cameras and in front of the nation glued to their sets on Sunday lunchtime, the Bluebirds won 3-0 at Roots Hall. Totally outclassing a Southend United team who were second best in all departments.

Led by a superb performance by Michael Chopra, the Bluebirds continued their superb start to the season and must now be viewed a serious promotion candidates. Apart from an early scare just before their opening goal the team from Ninian Park were always in total control and came away with all three points. The win puts the "city" three points clear of Birmingham City and sets up the game against Wolves next weekend at Ninian Park as another potential cracker.

Goals scored by Purse, Scimeca and Ledley - which looked like an own goal but who cares!
