Cardiff extend their lead at the top of the league

In front of 15,744 fans Cardiff City held onto a one goal lead to collect all three points against a previously unbeaten on their travels Burnley. It wasn't too pretty but the home fans went home happy.....

Cardiff: Alexander, Chambers, Purse, Loovens, McNaughton, Parry (Flood 34), McPhail, Scimeca, Ledley, Campbell (Johnson 74), Chopra.
Subs Not Used: Howard, Kamara, Gunter.

Booked: Chambers.

Goals: Scimeca 23.

The only goal of the game came from Ricky Scimeca at the Canton End on 23 minutes with a fine drive which beat the Burnley keeper. Michael Chopra wasted an easy chance late on in the game with only the keeper to beat, and Roger Johnson also missed a glorious chabce to seal the points. Burnley hit the bar after a goalmouth scrabble but for all their posession did not trouble Neil Alexander at all.
