Here's the date and information for the LDV Vans Draw. The Bluebirds were knocked out of this competition by Peterborough United last year, after a 3-1 defeat.

The LDV Vans Draw for the first round will be taking place on September 21st.

Helen Chamberlain and Tim Lovejoy will be making the draw, live on Soccer AM on the Saturday morning.

In recent years, Cardiff City have never taken this competition seriously, and have fielded weaker or reserve teams.

The Bluebirds only reached the second round last year, after being knocked out By Peterbourough United. Kevin Nugent got Cardiff's only goal of that game from the penalty spot in a disappoitning 3-1 defeat.

Surprisingly, this was the first time we had reached Round Two since 1996, when Exeter City put Cardiff out 4-2 on penalties, after the Bluebirds had beaten Gillingham in the first stage.

Hopefully Lennie Lawrence will give this competition the respect it deserves, and give the club and the fans a chance of a final at the Millennium Stadium.
