For the first time in 20 years, the Bluebirds are top of the Division Two table after a 2-2 draw away at Plymouth. Robert Earnshaw grabbed a brace for Cardiff.

For the first time in 20 years, Cardiff City are top of the Division Two (formerley Division Three) table, after a 2-2 draw with Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.

Robert Earnshaw gave Cardiff the lead twice, but Plymouth fought back. Their second goal was the last kick of the game.

This didn't stop the Cardiff City party, as about 800 City fans headed back to Wales happy, with their team at the top of the league!

Sam's Cat's Thoughts:
In an unbelievable climax to the game, the referee played a full 3
minutes of injury time ( heaven only knows where he got the time
from ) allowing increasingly relentless Argyle attacking to nick a
share of the points. It was a result which sent City to the top of
the league but only by a point not the 3 it should have been.

Twice the 700 travelling City faithful were rewarded with the
Bluebirds taking the lead, both times through Robert Earnshaw who
is quickly fulfilling all his potential.

The first goal was a clever shot over the Argyle custodian who
appeared to be playing in one of the stewards "day-glo" jackets.
This followed good work from Peter Thorne, who now appears to have
turned into a goal provider not scorer.

The atmosphere at a superbly redeveloped Home Park was excellent,
and fair play to the Plymouth crowd the really got behind their
boys, and were rewarded with a goal from a free kick. The
infringement was fully twenty five yards out from goal, however a
soft low drive evaded the Cardiff wall and sneaked past Alexander
in-between the posts. He and the defence really should have done
better, however the error was atoned for with one or two excellent
saves throughout the rest of the match.

HT 1-1

Another excellent goal from "Earnie" and another header to add to
his tally put City into the lead once more following clever work
on the left flank revolving around Andy Legg. Leaping like the
proverbial salmon little Robert guided the ball into the goal
right in front of the Bluebirds supporters. That's another £4,000
in his bonus pay packet and he celebrated by pretending to dig for
victory it seemed!

Cardiff however could not put the game out of reach and despite
whistles from all those sporting blue favours, the referee seemed
determined to play until Plymouth scored - and he did and they
did.

City left the field to cries of "we are top o' the league" - this
cat sees no reason why they should not stay there!
