Out of favour Gavin Gordon led Cardiff City into the semi-finals of the FAW Premier Cup.
His two goals and overall performance must put him contention for Fridays game versus Oldham at Ninian Park. Otherwise Lennie must have something against him.
How much more does the poor lad have to do!
Incidentally from all accounts City were well worth their victory.
"I was delighted with the attitude and approach of my players," said Cardiff City manager Lennie Lawrence. "The team we brought to face a difficult test was not as strong as I maybe would have liked, but they started right and finished right. The only blemish was conceding a goal almost immediately after we had scored the second.
"No player has taken a step back tonight. Some have taken a small step forward and one or two have taken a big step forward."
Summary
-------
A weakened team included Des Hamilton and City went ahead after 44 minutes when Gordon pounced on a poor back pass from Dave Bridgewater. Young Fleetwood, just after the interval passed to "on fire" Gordon for the second.
Steve Anthrobus pulled one back for TNS, who were disappointing, but with 10 minutes left Gordon crossed from the right with Fleetwood scoring his first goal for the "first team".
Job done! You know it makes sense Lennie give GG a crack in the league!!!
