On a very cold evening the bluebirds got back to winning ways at Nothampton Town, to put the promotion push back on track. Robert Earnshaw again the hero for the Bluebirds.

This was a good performance, a clean sheet and, above all a most important victory!

City deserved to take maximum points on their first-half showing where they dominated.

City are now in third place, just one point behind Crewe who were held 2-2 at Notts County.

Bluebirds manager Lennie Lawrence kept faith with the same starting 11 that drew with Oldham at Ninian Park.

In a lively encounter City enjoyed the better of much of the game, and the Blues went ahead with Earnshaw putting the visitors in the lead with an overhead kick for his 27th goal of the season.

Mahon, crossed to the far post for Thorne who saw his header hit the crossbar, and the rebound fell to Earnshaw who scored from inside the six-yard box.

Result 1-0
