Wigan Athletic have one foot in the First Division after an impressive 2-0 away victory at relegation threatened Northampton Town this evening. First half goals from Nathan Ellington and Andy Liddell were enough to see the Latics go 12 points clear of Crewe Alexandra at the top of the division in front of an attendance of 5,822 at Sixfields. Wigan have played some fantastic football this season, and with 26 victories already to their name they are looking worthy winners of the division, and three more victories will guarantee the championship for them. The defeat for Northampton sees them stay in 23rd position, 4 points from safety with all the other teams in trouble having at least one game in hand. Tomorrow's Division Two Fixtures are: Brentford v Cheltenham Town All of the above are 3 O'Clock kick-offs.
