Lennie Lawrence has confirmed that birthday boy Spencer Prior will play in this evenings game with arch-rivals Bristol City at Ashton Gate. The 31-year-old has been critised by the City fans of late, but the man Lawrence has described as a "true leader" has been given another chance at the back.

Spencer Prior woke up this morning to be given the best possible birthday message by manager Lennie Lawrence. "Your playing tonight". Following Prior's re-call, Lawrence told the Western Mail the following: "Spencer will play against Bristol. He's the nearest thing we have to a leader at this club. "We were quite young at the back against Colchester and it showed at times. We could have done with Spencer because he's an organiser. "The defenders who played on Saturday are good young players but they don't talk a lot during games. Spencer will do that. "We need people who can win games up front but we also need experience and players with battling qualities." Prior is likely to line up alongside Daniel Gabbidon in the centre-half positions, but it is still unknown who Lawrence will pick to go alongside them in defence. It is thought that Steve Jenkins could replace Rhys Weston at right back, and Andy Legg keep his place ahead of Gary Croft. Andy Campbell also looks set to return to the 16-man squad following a long lay off with injury. For my full Bristol City preview, please Click Here.
